Pizza and spaghetti are equally bad due to the high-fat content... the liver has trouble with fat and when it can't process it correctly, it starts to grow a layer of fat around the shell of the liver. That happened to me, and my doctor said that was not a good thing. Basically, ones Hepatitis C diet should be: high-fiber including metamucil... get your necessary protein from fish, forget all about meats. Fat is bad no matter where it comes from. Guest guest
I'm sorry Dana... it's just that the disease is a lot more serious than our doctors really tell us or know about because studies have not been done too extensively yet. If all of you would just take a look at all the physical problems you've over the years, and how you are feeling now, and what certain foods and drinks do to your abdominal area, you'll all realize we are not invincible and that this disease is much like aids or cancer right now. That might sound like cold and hard facts, but it's true and a sick liver cannot handle much abuse --- it shouldn't have any added stress or we are all going to die too young. Guest guest
That is true Princess. I was a pallbearer at a dear friends funeral last January. By the time I got him to understand the importance of his diet, they found cancer. went from a large grape last august to a large cantalope right before Christmas. You eat for your livers health now.....not our enjoyment. 1 time a month I'll eat meat and junk....or I'd never have anything to look forward too! Guest guest
did u have this test?? Topic Overview Cause Symptoms What Happens What Increases Your Risk When to Call a Doctor Exams and Tests Treatment Overview Prevention Home Treatment Medications Surgery Other Treatment Other Places to Get Help References Credits Peripheral Vascular Disease of the Legs Treatment Overview The first line of treatment for peripheral vascular disease (PVD) is to identify and change lifestyle factors that may be contributing to the development of peripheral vascular disease. It is especially important to treat high blood pressure, control high blood sugar levels caused by diabetes, lower high cholesterol levels, and stop smoking. Home treatment may help control some of these risk factors. Medications can also help control symptoms and may reduce risk factors for peripheral vascular disease. Cholesterol-lowering medications can be used to help reduce the buildup of plaque in the arteries caused by atherosclerosis. Medications that prevent blood from clotting may also help improve symptoms of leg pain and may help prevent blood clots from suddenly forming and blocking a blood vessel. For people who have severe or limb-threatening PVD, bypass surgery or other procedures (such as angioplasty) may be needed to restore proper blood flow to the legs. o CAROL GET TESTED FOR HEPATITISIS C. 8 Million in the US have HCV . HCV can lead to fibrosis, necrosis.cirrhosis and liver cancer. get it from transfusions and blood products, IV drug use (even once) snorting drugs, body percings, dailysis,Military vaccinations, mancurisist equipment, unprotected sex, and any blood to blood contact. Guest guest
Princess you said a mouthful. I had to inform my doctor about the waiting list and all the protocol in order for me to get my meds. God bless Sandy Princess wrote:[ My specialist says two years w/o viral detection is considered cured. ] Regardless of what anyones specialist says, there is no medical or magical cure for Hepatitis C at this point in time. All anyone has to do is seach the Internet and read up and self-educate. Not all doctors keep themselves up to date on current knowledge. Guest guest
LeignAnn, [ It's good to see you posting again. We have missed you. Remember too that we all have opinions and some people are more forceful with theirs than others. Some don't like being disagreed with so they lash out. Let us know how you have been doing. ] *greets* Living with Hepatitis C, in my humble opinion, is difficult enough without having obstacles to further jolt emotions... yes, agreed. Let's see, how've I been doing... *thinks of how to say so many things in short form* I'm about 6 weeks away from that first blood test after being labeled undetected and for those of you who might not know me, I'm genotype 3a in the latter part of the 3rd stage. I've not seen too many people with this genotype, so it will be interesting to see one more statistic of what happens at 6 months --- still undetectable or not. If I sound calm about things, the typed word can be very misleading *often feels like she is pulling her hair out with anxiety*... the doctor weaned me from Paxil, the coming off from it wasn't too bad really. But, anymore... I feel like I have a short fuse... no, I don't feel that, I know that. It's like, the littlest thing can irritate me to no end. I wasn't like this prior to 23 weeks of peg-intron... I also didn't have the joint and bone and muscle aches prior... now, just bending down to pick up my kitty feels like knives in various body parts. Turning over in bed is a chore anymore, and I wake up sore and feeling bruised from head to toe every morning... *shrugs* Dry skin, well, now there's a positive one... it's gotten alot better in the last few months, and my hair is starting to return to somewhat of a decent-looking state of array. My vision and my hearing, regardless of what any doctor says, has degraded more than noticeably since treatment... go figure, I dunno... would've been nice to know that some of this stuff was gonna be permanent, or so it seems... I find myself always wondering if just because I feel more tired one day than the next, if the virus is attacking again and visible under the microscope... if I feel a bit down one day, I wonder if it's back... it's a spooky existence anymore it seems... sometimes, I even wonder how long I'm going to live... call me philosophical maybe... but hey, there's supposed to be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, so that's the good news! Hope everyone here has been well... Princess
