Guest guest
I'm becoming a night owl. I used to miss out on chatting real-time because I went to bed at a reasonable midnite or so. Not any more!! Gloria, I just can't jump back into the medical specialists pool right now. As painful as these " electrical currents " are, I'm so frustrated and disappointed in what just happened. This was a Dr that seemed so warm and caring. A good bedside manner can be hard to come by. He would set aside 60-90 mins for my visits. Like I said earlier, Drs like him are the reason I would go years without seeing any Dr. " A well-behaved woman never made history " Mae West http://facebook.com/people/andTrudy-Kinsey/1340460877
Guest guest
Trudy, your phone is possessed! You know what? There are good doctors out there, you just have to find them. Interview these jerks like you'd interview a babysitter for your precious baby. After all, they are going to be taking care of you while you can't. Treatment is so much easier to go thru if you know that your doctors have everything under control and you're just along for the ride. You need to find the right medical team for you. If it means going to 5 doctors before you find the right one, that's what you do. I got lucky and my Dr. Right was the second one I met. I fired the gastro after just a few months. He didn't have my sense of urgency and something about him made me think that' he'd rather not deal with hep c. I was right. Let me know what the closest big city is to you and I'll check with my guy here and see if he knows anyone in the area. If you still love your GP and I think you do, then all you need is a Hepatologist and you'll be good to go. I know you are disappointed and reasonably so. This didn't have to happen this way but it did and now we're going to make sure that round two is successful. WE are right here with you sweetheart. Right here. And up at 2 in the morning with you! Guest guest
TrudyI'm not so sure that the blame is on the Dr. He must have really believed what he was telling you;but, the dragon had an absolute mind of it's own.Can you imagine someone that has every side affect possible for 48 weeks and then 6 months after the end of tx - there's that damn dragon again. One thing that you know for sure, those "electrical currents" have nothing to do with Hep C, treatment and I suspect not even Fibro causes them. I'd be curious to find out if it is actually caused from back problems??However, I get it about you having a break from Drs. Yup, by the time tx was done, I'd had enough of Drs of any kind. Yet, my body and mind kept me going back. Ahhh for the days that we hadn't seen a Dr. for anything for a very long time.Gloria I'm becoming a night owl. Guest guest
Gloria, I disagree. The gastro is totally to blame. He told Trudy that she could stop treatment at 17 weeks and still achieve SVR. The minimal amount of treatment required on this protocol is 24 weeks. There is no time off for good behavior with this one. He PROMISED her she'd be okay.... he was wrong. He should have known better. Guest guest
TrudyIf you are up till 2:00am and depending where you live right now, it could be that I'm still here. Guest guest
TeriI totally get that about the Gastro! However, it was actually sad that Trudy went into tx with a few problems. As I remember, she was already having the side-affects from the Elavil. You would think that some Dr. some where along the path, should have clued in!!OK I agree!! The Gastro should have clued in about the side affects and looked into what was going on a whole lot more. That is why I had to tell the clinic if I so much as had a cold and took something for it. Either my GP or the clinic would have caught those problems. You know, when I first learned about my virus and for several years after, the best that we had in this town was an Internist who went to the University to study more about the Hep C problem. But, the moment we got the Gastro, he turned everyone over to the new guy. Even my file went there; but, I didn't and likely never will.If it was me today, I would encourage me to go to the city and especially a Hep C Clinic. There was a nurse who also had Hep C and she actually came to me suggesting that I go to her Dr. in the big city. She says, you know that the Dr. here has never performed a transplant. It seemed awfully stupid that I would choose a Dr. that knew transplants. That Dr. she was seeing has never performed on either. Gloria, I disagree. The gastro is totally to blame.
