Guest guest
I have had had four such experience each one getting worse and taking longer to come out of. Thus the reason for the second icd after the first one couldn't be repaired and was removed. This one is in the right side and lets hope it never fails
Guest guest
Dear Sharon: My unit couldn't be placed on the right so that is when they decided (after the failed attempt) to go in through the sternum and sew patches on the actual heart. Now, there is no possibility for a by-pass procedure. Love, Jeannie Re: Passing out > I have had had four such experience each one getting worse and taking longer > to come out of. Guest guest
Dear Jeannie, My very fist icd was implanted in three different sections of my body. That unit was recalled it was made by Lilly. When they replaced it they opened me up and put the patches on me. When it malfunctioned and did all that firing it did a lot of damage they said it sort of burned up part of the heart or something like that and there was no where at the time to put new patches or new leads as my veins were to weak and tearing if such a thing is possible. At least that is what the told me. DR, Morant finally let me leave the Clinic but I had to return once a week as I was hooked to all types of monitors and alarms. I had this suitcase I had to take with me every where I went. I had those darn lead patches all over my chest. Finally my chest just started to blister and bleed where the patches where so they made me come back to the Clinic. They said it wasn't safe for me to out without monitoring. We tried al the medication again. At that time there was a lot of research going on with Betapace and I got to be part of that experiment. The drugged worked for a while and I thought I would get away with just having the drug and would not need a new icd. I made this deal with God. If he would just get me through this and not let me have to have a new icd I would-be perfect. You know those kind pleas we make when we re n a panic. When Dr, Morant became ill I decided I didn't want a knew doctor and that it was a sure sign that I was healed. So I just stopped going to all of them but then of course about 9 months later I collapsed. In comes Dr, Gordon and it all started all over again. But I had made my decision that I would never have another icd so I fought them tooth and nail and signed myself out. My family doctor finally threatened me that he would not see me anymore if I didn't go have some new test. Dr. Gordon said lets do another EP study maybe you won't need a icd maybe you re better. WRONG. But did I listen NO. I ignored everything and went on about my life I took my medication and thought I was wonder woman, Well, Wonder Woman almost became Dead Women when she was found on the floor last July of 99 not breathing I had a full blown seizure and if it hadn't been for a friend knowing my history I wouldn't be writing this to you now They decided to immediately put in a icd and I carried on but to make a long story short they won and I am glad they did. They took me to surgery and then couldn't find a place to put the darn thing as I had a lot of previous damage. Thought I was off the hook, but the they did one of those veienoscopy(sp) and they finally found one small vein that they had a chance at. That is one of the reason I think I am not allowed to do much as they say if this one fails, oh well Love, Lady Valor
Guest guest
Dear Sharon: I had my first unit in my waist with the wires on my left subclavia. Then on my 3rd , a new doctor, wanted to tie off the left and put it on my right side , no good the subclavia had collapsed during my mastectomies. So, they sewed patches onto my physical heart and left the new generator/battery in my waist. I'm also told this is it. So, they had better not break. Guest guest
Bruce, You say that the MD tells you that the fainting episodes are " from your scoliosis, " could you ask the MD to be more specific? Could it be that your spine and ribs are interferring with your lung capacity? This is the largest breath of air that your lungs can hold. Perhaps you aren't able to expend your lungs enough? Do you faint after you have been exercising or working? When the heart is pumping harder driving the lungs to breathe harder, perhaps you are not able to get enough oxygen and this could cause you to faint. You probably should have him explain it to you more thoroughly. It could be dangerous for you if you fainted and fell. Please let me know if you have found out anymore info? Never a female. My sex life is so bad the ENTER key on my computer is locked up, and I'm not about to try ALT. I'm not that kind of a guy. From California where the difference between passing out and falling asleep is that passing out is what you do after sex, and falling asleep is what your wife does during sex. Guest guest
It's a part of the heartbeat called the QT interval. When the QT interval gets longer then that's a sign that the heart may be developing rhythm problems and it can lead to sudden cardiac death or fainting episodes. Both times that I passed out I didn't feel bad or anything I just went down like a sack of potatoes. 2 1/2 hours is a REALLY long time to pass out. A big fear of that if you are passing out is lack of oxygen to your brain. My pacer is set at 60 and I think that's too slow. When my heart is beating at 60 beats per minute I get light headed, foggy, kind of dizzy and I feel like passing out. My cardiologist also took my off of beta blockers because my heart was beating too slow. Maybe that's your problem. I really don't know other medical reasons for people passing out but I'm sure there are lots. I don't really have an idea of what you can ask your Dr. When my ICD was implanted I didn't have a lot of chances to ask questions. If your ICD isn't capturing anything or isn't firing then that's good. Keep me updated on what your Dr tells you, good luck!john morris <shadow061@...> wrote: HI , have to ask what is QT syndrome? Hi, Passing out was the first indication I had a cardiac problem. I had a few events with no adverse impact but sadly I was next to a four foot high chain link fence one time. My left elbow hit the support post as I fell resulting in a shattered upper arm bone. Some good surgery and lots of painful physical therapy allowed me to regain about 70% use of the arm. This may not be an all bad thing as I did not notice much change when my ICD was implanted on the left side. San Craig
Guest guest
, I have to agree with Guin that it might be Sleep Apnea. See if anyone can hear you snoring or gasping for air when you sleep. It took 5 years for me to finally get diagnosed with it....I had twin babies and thought I was just tired and worn out from caring for them. Someone finally heard me and recognized the sounds. One of the other big clues was that I would sit down to watch TV or read and then pass out right away. I woke up feeling totally out of it and not having any idea what day, time etc it was. You almost get narcoleptic because you are in essence not getting any restful sleep even when you sleep. Get it checked out....I know someone who actually fell asleep while driving her kids to school and then they found out it was Sleep Apnea. Good luck and get this checked out soon, in CA

Guest guest
Next doctor you're getting is a cardiologist.. just watch. The anemia could have you passing out too.. forgot about that. It would also cause irregular heart beats and the pounding.... On Sat, Feb 19, 2011 at 1:13 AM, trudykinsey@... <trudykinsey@...> wrote: Thx Don. Heart was my first concern.
