Guest guest
Hi everyone, Though I'm not in the BFL contest, but I'd like to keep score of my own personal weight loss/firm-up effort. Today is my day 2 of working out and I want to set my goal to work out at least 5 days a week, but idealy every single day. I want to loose 10 lbs. I'm 5'6 and am 140lbs, like to go down to 130lbs. I'm also watching what I eat. Trying to eat more protein, less carb, no sugar. I'm wondering if taking the meal replacement drink/bar necessary to decrease body fat? Is high body fat the cause of cellulite? I'm very concious of the cellulite at the back of my thigh and my buttocks, I would love to get rid of it before the end of this summer. How do you get motivated to work out every day? I wish I have a work out buddy to go to the gym with. My gym cost $50 a month but I only go about 4 times a month, quite a waste of money. But they have a nice and clean steam room and jacuzi that I really like. When I need to relax I can go there and use this facility, and it's such a treat. I'll write tomorrow. BTW, I had a lipo on my tummy 3 months ago, I think it's growing back a little. I heard different opinions, some says it doesn't grow back, and others say it does. I haven't had much weight gain since my surgery, so I don't know what's causing it. If anyone has lipo done before I'd appreciate your input. Guest guest
lee, I got a special treat today! I invited my dear friend out to lunch, a luxury that I can do now that I am in town, and she was a few blocks away. Well, she told me the cleaning service she recommended wasn't accepting new clients until someone moves in six months so she offered to help me between now and then. I am so thrilled! She is like my sister and used to clean for me. I didn't dare even ask her...I know she is busy. Marta > > Not so bad. Saw patients today. > > > > I think I will hire household help. Guest guest
Barb, I remember sleeping a lot. If you have any pain, don't hesitate to push the morphine button. It is pre set, so you cannot overdose. You don't have to call a nurse for morphine, you have the ability to dose yourself. I remember reading magazines and watching TV a lot. Jackie had a good suggestion to bring along a CD player and I brought some music and books on tape. Reen
Guest guest
Yes and no. Obviously one is on a healing path so that each day (more or less) one feels better. I was pretty much conked out on Day 2 as I recall so I mostly hung out in bed and napped. I sat up in the chair for awhile and was amazed at how hard it was to walk down the hospital corridor. But it's not as if I had a lot of pain or anything. The ironic part about a hip replacement is that there is more pain before surgery than after for most people. There is the incision but at least for me my leg didn't " hurt " when I walked or moved -- it was just a little difficult to get around because I didn't have full strength in my muscles for a week or so. Guest guest
I thought the day I went home was the worst after each hip. Third day for the Right and Sixth day for the Left. It was an hour ride to get home. My Doctor's goal is an interference fit if possible and to have you standing, full weight bearing, the afternoon of surgery. Walking the next day with the walker. That is, of course, if all goes well and most of his go very good. R THR 3/20/2007 L THR 12/22/2009 Dr. Leo Whiteside Mo. Guest guest
Hi Barb, I was told to click the morphine button twice to get the dosage. Do hot hesitate to use it. This is not the time to be a martyr. I slept most of the time. I did have my Ipod with me, and I think I used it. I may also have had a trashy novel, but I honestly don't remember. I do remember I had a terrific view if the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. It is four days to get through and then forget about! Good luck. Guest guest
Mustafa Every-one is different to their reactions to certain drugs. Morphine makes me terribly sick So I have either pethidine in the infusion but the last time I had Fentanyl and it was perfect For my shoulder replacements. In fact that would be my first choice. Its something I always discuss with the anaesthetist before surgery. I was lucky I had the same gas man for all 4 shoulder surgeries last year., -- Re: day two Barb, I remember sleeping a lot. Guest guest
Barb, I may be a rarity here, but day two was fine for me. I was up walking around my hospital room unaided on day two. And it just got easier with each passing day. The worse day was the day before the op! Guest guest
Hi Mustafa, Some people have a bad reaction, but many, including me, don't. There are other drugs that you can take if morphine upsets your stomach. Guest guest
People have different pain levels as well as tolerance for pain of course. However, experiencing pain is harmful to the healing process so it's not beneficial to be in pain rather than to use effective pain killers. If one has difficulty with morphine, tell your OS and you can come up with an alternative pain regimen. There are also anti-nausea drugs that can be taken which are very effective. Again something that can be written into your orders so the nurses can administer it as soon as you feel queasy. Guest guest
I remember from my hysterectomy surgery that I had to take some kind of anti-nausea drug alone with my morphine......it worked quite well. Guest guest
I ended up back in the hospital because of the pain meds. They made me so sick that they scared the physical therapists and they wheeled me to the hospital, which there I underwent tons of tests and then when they could not find anything sent me in an ambulance to another hospital where they did not find anything and by then I figured it was the meds and the doc agreed. So each is individual. I followed doctor's orders to take them before therapy and that is what happened. Then I quit them totally. dash Re: day two People have different pain levels as well as tolerance for pain of course. Guest guest
Your doctor. Talk to your doctor. Best is to know what you can and can't take. He prescribes, and then in lots of hospitals they now have a " hospitalist " (doctor) follow you. So your OS instructions are of the most importance so the next guy does not mess it up. dash Re: day two , who orders the drugs after surgery? The anesthesia team or the OS? Guest guest
Definitely mention the nausea to the anesthesiologist. He can use a different combination to put you to sleep and minimize the nausea. I have nausea real bad if they don't drug me for it. I've thrown up while still out as they were taking me to recovery and also in recovery. The Ortho will order the pain meds. > > Hi Barb, you meet the anesthesiologist at the pre-op.
