Hi e

What an absolute let down by the NHS once again. Where has your previous GP gone and is it possible you could continue to see him as I know you can find your own GP if you want and not have to stick to one that is in your area - at least, I think I read that very recently somewhere.

Tell us where you live and we will see if there is an endocrinologist who is likely to recommend Armour for you. As you are obviously so much better on Armour and your old GP knew what you were like on thyroxine, why can't she appreciate that Armour is working, and that because Armour has all the hormones that your body requires, therefore, your TSH will be zero because it just isn't needed. Everybody on the right dose of Armour gets a high level of Free T4 and Free T3.

Have you asked her what she is going to do if you cannot find an endocrinologists that will recommend Armour for you? Is she going to actually put you back on a medication that made you so ill? DUH!

Luv - Sheila

NEW MEMBERS

Hi to everyone

I've been hypothyroid for about 8 years now, treated for 3, and on Armour thyroid for the last 2. I've had all the usual struggles with diagnosis, and an awful year on thyroxine but luckily a new GP joined my practice. He happily prescribed Armour, and was happy for us to find a level dosage based on symptoms and not blood tests(which is about 4.5 grains). Great!! However he only stayed at my docs for about a year, and so I was back to my original GP. She has been increasingly unhappy prescribing for me, unhappy with blood tests (THS 0 and high level free t3 and t4) and has just written me a letter informing me that she will only continue to prescribe if an NHS endocrinologist oks this, or suggesting that I go private. I am very unhappy with her, she keeps telling me I am taking too much because I want to be thin and that Armour thyroid makes your nails drop off (yes, utterly ludicrous, I know!!).

I fully intend not to continue with this gp, but don't want to go private on principle. I know I could self medicate via the internet, but that obviously leaves a gaping hole in my medical records.

Does anybody know of any NHS endocrinologist that is sympathetic.

Hoping someone can help me, thanks, e

Hi ,

Since you're not a new member, I'm assuming you're asking for someone

else. :) I'm not exactly sure what the problem is we're trying to

solve, so let me email you offline and we'll figure it out. Thanks.

How do I remove my name from the stimulator group? I joined hoping to get

information and maybe make a couple of friends, of which I have, however; I

recently suffered a stroke and have been in the hospital. When I was

finally able to get online and read mail, I had over 500 emails from the

group, which contained a lot of " chatter " not much information about the

stimulator. I have enjoyed meeting people and I wish everyone good health

and happiness., but it's time to move on.

Thanks for your welcome. For me as a newbie I really appreciate the coordinated effort of yourself and all the members. I am learning a lot from the experience of others. Is there a way to view the messages on the web page without having them all coming into my in-box. Having a hard time keeping up with all the mail! Thanks again.

I have been thinking the same thing. Dr Grim does send some of this in his first

Here is what I try to send if I am on my computer to welcome. We can set it up so it goes out with new joiners but dont know how. What else would you like to add or change. Welcome1. Read my article in our files on the evolution of PA (Evolution_of_PA-Grim.pdf ) and take to all members of health care team. Tell us what stage you believe you are in.2. Read our Conn's stories files and then give us your own in as much detail as you can. To see others' stories, on the Hyperaldosteronism home page, go to Files/Conns Stories. You'll find instructions in "A - How to put your story here.doc " 3. Get the DASH diet book by T. et al, read it and use it. $8 in paperback at your local bookstore.or go to http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/public/heart/hbp/dash/new_dash.pdfdownload this 64 page booklet free and do the Week on the DASH Diet for 2 weeks. If you are on BP meds be prepared for a large fall in BP and let your Dr. know you are doing this.4. Measure your BP daily so you can see if it is getting better. If you are taking meds be sure to tell your health care team you are doing this as your BP may plummet to normal quickly.5. Go to familyhistory.hhs.gov and do your detailed family medical history so we can review with you to help Dx familial causes of high blood pressure and heart disease. If BP runs in your family you may save others in your family by checking their BP yourself.6. Go to our file/Conn's Articles of Note/Medications/Bravo spir 1973.pdf and read this article and take to your health care team.7. If there is some information you don'k know ask us and we will help. If you need to update this as you journey thru the diagnostic/treatment process you can add another entry but label it as Nameyymmdd. For example today 6/12/09 for me would be Grim090612. moderator task.

Goto files click edit a file

and set the "upon joining group"

You don't have 143 files to send, BTW, maybe 43 possible, but they don't get tagged just because you upload a file.

There's a bunch of pages in the acronyms file.

You don't have 143 files to send, BTW, maybe 43 possible, but they don't get tagged just because you upload a file.

There's a bunch of pages in the acronyms file.

Hi All

I was wondering if it is possible to set up an automatic system where new people are given the following information:

Dashing - defined (links to help understand diet) Link to Dr Grim's paper on Conn's Request that they post their story in appropriate area

When I joined, I felt that many were talking a different language. I've been helped a great deal by the advice and information I've received and thought a "welcome to the group" email might be appropriate.

In another of my , we received an email when we signed up - which had information on how to do things, where to find them, etc.

Anyone agree this might be a good idea? If so - how to set it up?

Sue

Yikes - for those new members, go read some of the older posts - especially where Reggie welcomes people there - don't be afraid, I don't know what's happening in your life lately, Reggie, but you sound so very serious!!!!! I hope you're ok

also, about other groups, yup, there's quite a few mb groups - I just searched "macrobiotics" on and found many more than I realized existed. And those are just the . If you search macrobiotics (google or any other search engine) you'll find many sites for support.

Reggie, we're having a potluck with Sandy this Wednesday - do you know his favorite food???

Hey there was a pile of new members for me to approve and I've been lazy so my apologies to those who took forever to get approved. I'm reluctant to approve people sometimes because I know that several each time are fake and someone trying to annoy me so I don't bother and get to it when I feel like it.for the others, I'm sorry but this is the reason.I hope we all play nicely and please remember I started this group b/c I am vegan and like to try to follow macrobiotic principles and learn more and share what I do know. I am vegan first and therefore keeping this group with vegan speak. So those interested in speaking about non vegan stuff, please do go to another group. Thanks for understanding. Also, please no spam or I will delete it and you.No fighting and no being mean to others. If you have any questions, let me know.Have a great dayReggie__________________________________________________

Hey Klara,

Not serious just not as involved in the group as I used to be. Also with Bruce

coming on as so many aliases it's sometimes annoying wasting my time welcoming

people who may be him.

Also, since this is a VEGAN macro group and there are so many non vegan ones I

get annoyed when ppl post non vegan stuff here when I clearly say it's

upsetting. Just make things more concise.

Sandy, is very easy to please, he is gracious and will probably love whatever

you give him. Not too rich or salty or sweet, simple. He's wonderful, send him

my love and let me know how it goes.

He likes squash, kabocha, he likes fresh lotus root a lot.

both kabocha and lotus root we don't have - I love them too. I tried growing kabocha once, didn't succeed. I have much to learn.

and of course, I'm not making simple - found Pirello's Fried Tofu with Black Bean Sauce on Scallion Pancakes - I experimented with it - needs a bit of tweaking but it's yummy.

Hi Reggie,

I just wanted to thank you for creating this group. I have met some amazing people here, who I am frequently in touch with. Your group has made an enormous difference in my life. I do not post often as life is busy, but thank you. I am sorry that there is someone who has time on their hands to be a nuisance to the group.

Thank you again.

Fern
