I'm sure being young has advantages! Your body is stronger, less abused

and more apt to heal than say a 45 year old fart like me. lol

I'm on week 7 of tx and my sides are pretty minimal thankfully, and in

fact I don't even get injection site reactions any longer.

The first injection caused some pain in my hips and shoulders and a

metallic taste in my mouth but that was pretty much it.

At this point I'm just tired, a little congested and thirsty but I love

ice water which I used to have to force down. (I'm hooked on it now.

lol)

I read all the horror stories too and was prepared for the worst ride

of my life, but it's been a breeze for me so far compared to the things

I'd heard.

If you consider the fact that side effects come with the territory and

accept it as part of the healing proccess, you'll find it easier to get

through this. It's not going to go on forever!

When do you take your first injection?

Good luck to you, I hope your first goes smoothly and the remaining get

easier. :)

I agree with a, Rich. I will be doing shot #4 tomorrow and so far, so

good. I also have some minor annoying sides, but nothing that has really been

awful.

My appetite is also lousy and I have a constant " taste " in my mouth and also

seem to " smell " this as well. I sometimes feel like the " smell " is coming out

of my pores, but that is hopefully my imagination. It seems to have effected my

taste buds so nothing is appetizing to me. I also have some slight nausea once

in a while and drink ginger ale more of the time to help with that.

I seem to be tired a bit more and it seems to take more effort to do the things

I could before - I sometimes get a bit out of breath.

Don't let the horror stories turn you off. It seems to me that I hear more and

more of the encouraging stories. In fact, I felt better after the first shot

than I had in months. The anticipation of " what would happen " was worse than

what really did happen.

Good luck, Dorothy

Thank you to everyone who responded, I feel much better about it.

I am scheduled to take my first shot on Sun of next week. I did have

one more question of a more personal nature. Most people who I have

talked to said that they completly had no sex drive while on

treatment. I have a very wonderful and supportive boyfriend but I

feel that six mos- to one yr. is a long time to wait for him and for

me. I hope that this is not to innappropriate. It is just a

concern.

You saying mice are horney little buggers Tim? lol

No wonder I'm constantly making war on them in the barn! ;-)

(Re: hello)

Don't be too concerned about your sex drive sweetie, you may not be

up for it as much as you normally are because you're going to be

sleepy a lot, but if your boyfriend is truely supportive like you

said he'll understand and you'll both get through it. ;-)

Remember.... NO BABIES while on tx! Don't even think about chancing

it and use at least 2 different types of contraceptives when you have

sex.

I need to add that a high percentage of people who are on tx are also

taking some type of anti-depressant which are well known for

decreased sexual drive. That could have something to do with what

you've heard. ;-) Just a thought.

I just did shot 3 last night. I haven't had many side effects at all

from my shots or from the riba. I'm on 6 pills a day too. I'm about

twice your age. I'm not sure how much being young has to do with how

extreme or mild the sides will be. I took 1 aleve the night of my shot

and one the morning after.

Good luck. I hope your sides are as mild as mine have been.

It has been 2 months since I finished tx. Yes, the tx did affect my sex drive.

Even though my partner is very loving and supportive, me being withdrawn was

testing on the relationship. It frustrated myself because I'd lost that loving

feeling and him because he missed my passion and affection. Though we still had

sex and were aware that it was the tx so don't take it personally, it was

probably the most difficult side affect of all and I did wonder at times whether

our relationship would ever be the same again.

The good news is, post tx our passion has come back with a vengence, we are

closer and happier than ever, I am now negative of HCV and have a healthier

lifestyle than prior.

Good Luck :)

It is just a

concern.

the " smell " is coming out of my pores, but that is hopefully my

imagination. It seems to have effected my taste buds so nothing is

appetizing to me. I also have some slight nausea once in a while

and drink ginger ale more of the time to help with that.
