Guest guest
Hello Heppers, I'm in second week and it's been really rough. I'm actually surprised that it's been so hard. After both shots I was not able to do much on Saturday, but Sunday I was okay. The biggest issue at this point is the terrible indigestion that I have. It seems like it's caused by the Ribavirin, but I haven't seen anything that indicates that would be a side effect. At first I thought it might be coffee, so I cut that out and now I'm wondering if it could be dairy. Could it be the Riba just reacting with something in my diet or would it just be the Riba itself? I'm taking 600mg in the morning and at night. I have a chemical taste from it and I can smell it emanating from my body. it feels like it's making me sick, so i have this natural reation to not want to take it, but I know I need to. Could the dose be too high? I have called my doctor, but they suck about getting back to me. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jon from Ohio
Guest guest
Hey Jon, I'm Donna from Massachusetts and on my 15th week of the 24 week tx. I can tell you that my doctor told me for the first 3 shots to take an aleve on the night of my shot and the morning after. I did this as instructed and had no bad fevers or body pain but i still had some severe bone pain which I found out was from my diet. My doctor gave me a low sodium diet to follow but of course I didn't think I needed to do that but I did. Like chocolate? I love it but it does not agree with the meds. Here and there I have used tums and they seem to calm my issues down. The water intake is the biggest help to me. I can tell when I don't get the amount required, which hasn't happened more than a couple times, because I get so dried out and miserable. My eyes and lips were so dry I thought I had another issue but it was just from the meds so drink drink drink water. Now that I am almost on shot 16 I can look back and say it wasnt as bad as I thought but I would not wish this on my worst enemy. Not that I have one but if I did, lol. This has been something else but I have learned many lessons since finding out I have hep c. Mostly that people care. Especially the people here. They seem to understand my issues and concerns better than my family and friends. So, when I need to vent I can come here and do it. Good luck to you and keep the faith. All good things come to an end and this is a good thing. We are lucky we are healthy enough to handle this super strong posion where others can't be treated. That's how I look at it and hope that everyone will be treated as soon as the new drugs come out. We all deserve to get rid of this virus. Guest guest
Thanks for your comments. I've been working really hard at hydrating because I've heard that is such an issue. I've always been chronically dehydrated, so I've been paying close attention to that. I hope this gets better. At the very least, I'd settle for managing the side effects enough to get bye. I've heard conflicting information about whether or not to take Aleve/Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen. I have both, but not sure what would be the best thing. Guest guest
I asked and was told aleve is what they recommend because it last 12 hours and they don't want you to take any more meds than what you need. And, only for the first 3 shots.
