Hi Colette

Personally I believe that conventional medicine is not the only answer.

I have been posting the medical news research updates for several years to the group.

I have also built the groups LINKS LIBRARY, and done a lot of my own research.

I have learned alot.

I have a bad heart so since I was DX'd with HCV, my doctors have steered me away from treatment.

They believe that it is possible that the Interferon might give me a heart attack.

So while I wait for my heart to heal, or they come up with a treatment that I can do, I have had to find other things to increase my health, and slow down my liver damage, [if I can].

That means a good diet, some liver/health boosting suppliments, a clean lifestyle, and getting away from things that might hurt me, like excessive OTC/prescription meds [among other things].

In the LINKS section of the group, I have listed both conventional and alternative info for everyone to plow through, and speed up their research.

Right now, only conventional treatment will cure HCV.

But there are other things that we can try to slow down damage, and build our health, so that our bodys immune system can fight.

Click on LINKS on any group page, or click this link to enter the LINKS LIBRARY:

- The first section - 000C - is the News Archieve [by year and month], where you can find recent medical discoverys and article updates. [good stuff]

- Section 003-004-005 is an introduction to HCV and liver disease.

- Section 006 is about alternative stuff, and diet. [read diet & Dr Berkson]

- Section 007 is about suppliments. [read all]

- Section 008 on are mostly about conventional medicine.

- Everything below the folder sections are websites that contain mountains of info.

I would like to steer you to the folders in red first above.

- 006G-Diet

- 006N-Dr Berkson [he helps people with liver disease with Alpha Lipoic Acid]

- and then to the whole section 007-suppliments.

I posted today about Vitamin D - please read this article.

V-D seems to be pretty important in slowing down and possibly stopping liver damage.

This should keep you busy for awhile. LOL :-)

When you are done, ask me and I will tell you about my diet, and the suppliments that I take.

Please keep in mind that my liver damage may not be as bad as yours.

So glad you brought up supplements! After our home burned, we scored a beautiful new home with plenty of room and a creek runs through it. Next to the creek, someone with no experience in building artificial aquatic gardens built a koi pond without thinking it through. I won't rebuild since erosion has taken out at least 25% of the retaining wall, the wiring is damaged and the pump is toast. Besides, who needs a fake pond next to a creek with a nice big pond a 10 minute hike away? Crazy ideas! Anyway, I've decided to revive my herb garden. Still have some perennials at the old home site and the creekside location is perfect! Started researching various herbs and found some that may help with the liver and digestion. You've spoken of a regimen that you follow. If it's not too much to ask can you shoot that to me again? I can't find the darn thing anywhere!

Thought you might have it handy. Some medicinal herbs scare me, but when they do what they're supposed to, there's nothing better than having fresh, dried, tinctured, etc. herbs to do the trick. I even stumbled on the best herbs to use in this fake mj they're selling to all the teenagers (and some adults too). Maybe I'll start a quick new business before they outlaw the fake stuff too! LOL! Thanks again! I'll let you know how the business goes! LOL! God's Peace

Hi Diane

I know exactly what you mean about having your feet on the ground.

That is one of my own biggest problems - I need to know whats going on.

When I dont, I feel lost, and become confused....and then I start to worry.

And that stressing tends to make me feel sick.

I had my gallbladder removed too, just before I was DX'd with HCV.

Since then my digestive tract has played havoic with me at times.

When I stress, it becomes even worse.

Diane, even though you dont have HCV, the liver friendly diet is useful to you too.

We all tend to eat so much crap, and that will eventually show its ugli head in how we feel.

I have been eating digestive enzymes also [from the health food store] in addition to a better diet, and I think that they are beginning to stabilize my digestion a bit.

They arent real expensive, and they come in all sorts of flavors.

Mine are Papaya flavored.

Hang in there my friend - life is a rollar coaster ride.
