Hi Tommy

Please dont dispair, you all still have lots of options.

It is not the end of the world, by any means.

I know it looks horrible, and you all feel really scared.

I want to tell you something - more people die with HCV, than from HCV.

And HCV can possibly be cured, although its true, some folks dont respond to treatment.

You didnt say what shape Danny's liver is in, but usually HCV takes years and even decades to progress, so perhaps you all have time to concider more things.

Like for example the newer treatments comming down the pipeline, that may prove to be far superior to todays treatments.

I hate to tell you this but -

You will probably find that the 5000+ dollar amount is - per month - not total.

HCV treatment is very expensive

Many Pharm companys provide financial assistance when it comes to buying their products.

I have a list of these, but your doctor should be able to provide this also.

Now comes the lifestyle changing part.

1 - Research - Do lots of research. I can help you with this if you like.

Also I am building the groups HCV LINKS LIBRARY to help us all with questions.

Click on LINKS on any group page or click on this link -

http://health.dir./group/ /links/

2 - Diet - NO MORE ALCOHOL ever again. Stop any drug use including tobacco if possible.

I have a list of diet suggestions in the LINKS LIBRARY - click this link -

http://health.dir./group/ /links/HEP_C_DIET_INFO_001245398019/

You may also access the LINKS LIBRARY by clicking on LINKS in the menu on any group page.

3 - Suppliments - There may be some liver suppliments Danny may wish to take.

Many of these are listed in the LINKS LIBRARY also.

They wont cure HCV, but they can help.

4 - Support - It is very important that you all support each other.

There is nothing worse than being alone facing a health issue.

This requires lots of love and patience with each other.

A caregivers job is just as hard as being the patient.

This, and other HCV groups can be a great deal of help when it comes to info and support.

Talking with those who have 'been there - done that'.

There are HCV sites all over the internet - , FaceBook, Twitter, etc - where-ever you feel most comfortable.

Tommy, please use this group as a good resource for you and Danny.

We will try to answer your questions, and others here have walked your path and will offer help also.

Maybe he would like to join us also, and talk about his feelings and thoughts.

Neither of you is alone in this - we are all here beside you, ready to help if we can.

One thing to remember - never give up HOPE.

There are lots of answers, we just have to find them.

love

Well, here. Am again. My name is Tommy and my husband Danny went the doc today and confirmed he has hep c. Well, where do we go from here? Doc said treatment is 6 to 12 months and $5000. Holy shit! Yep, that's what I said. We're trying for Medicaid but he probably makes too much. Not poor enough for indigent care and too rich for assistance. We don't have insurance through our business. Checked and he's self employed and they won't cover him. I love him and our kids need him around for a long life. I just want to crawl under a rock. Just venting to anyone who will hear me. Sincerely, Mrs. Tommy Clifton------------------------------------
