Congrats Carol!! You have a lot to look forward to! Yep, I know that

Advanced Bionics and Cochlear Corp are both working on the " all internal " CI!

I

know I would like one also....I figure by the time five more years have passed

they would have a whole bunch of new things out for us! My right ear, that

had the failed implant, is still perfectly able to have another CI......so I

figure when the time comes I will use that one.

How exciting Carol! I wish you the best as you wait for the February day to

arrive. It will be wonderful for you to hear the springtime birds, and

other sounds of spring as the world comes alive again after winter. Cheers,

Ruth

Good News

Hi folks. I have now gone through the whole candidacy protocol and will

get

surgery in February! Woo hoo!

Thanks to this list the surgeon told me to go ahead and check with the

audiologist about getting bilateral implants. I doubt it will happen, but

he agreed

that people are doing very well with them.

Also, he told me that it's possible that in five years CIs will have no

external parts. He said I can come back in and get that then.

Thank you all for being here to share my good news.

Best,

Carol (in Va.)

Carol,

Wishing you the best as you move forward with your surgery date.

Here's hoping all goes well for you and that you will be able to get

bilateral implants if this is what you want.

yes, the technology for ci's is moving forward faster than ever

before and I am so happy that I will be here to hopefully get in on

some of these changes.

I'm so happy to hear that Krystal is doing well on the Celebrex!!

Hopefully, this trend will continue~~

Hi,

Got good news, I hope! Krystal took her first dose of celebrex for this

flare on Sunday since the lithium was out of her system. Monday she was

able to get up and down from the couch, etc without help. Tuesday she

was able to do a little fencing. Her mood was so good today that I kept

watching to see if this was a bipolar mood swing. She isn't having any

pain in those fibro pain points. I'm hopeful that this is for now a long

term relief and not a short term type thing lasting only until her body

gets used to the med. She's actually able to bend and straighten up on

her own without help, and open her water bottles. She's feeling so

optimistic and positive that it's contagious---can you tell? *grin*

Small things that she couldn't do just a few days ago have a tendency to

make us want to throw a party. I pray that this least line of defense

does work for her long term--and that they keep her on it long enough for

it to do long term good. The previous family doctors would put her on

celebrex in the past, then when she'd have a good day, they'd pull her

off for such long periods of time that she was back to little movement,

excessive pain, etc before they would put her on it again. Since the new

rhuemy wants to see her again at the end of this month, and the new fam

dr and new rhuemy are coordinating, we are hopeful.

Just had to share what is turning out to be a good week for 3 of us.

Not so for my oldest--she had her ATM card stolen early this afternoon

and the person(s) responsible went on a major spending spree--jewelry

stores, walmarts, pharmacies, quik trips, etc. They froze the account

when the charges came in from an area she doesn't normally shop in and

when there were so many just minutes apart. She's not having fun at all

at the current time.

Take care,

Hi ,

Just wanted to let you know that I'm really happy your daughter is

having some better days. Reading several of your posts together, it

seems like Krystal certainly deserves a break from all of this. I hope

this positive phase will continue for a long while.

How awful, for your other daughter though! I'm glad the bank picked up

on it right away. She won't have any liability, I hope? Have they found

out who was responsible?

Take Care,

Georgina

Thanks! I was pretty happy that it was a simple solution too,

because after finally finding a med that helps with my pain, I

really didn't want to have to stop taking Plaquenil over side

effects. I'm thrilled that it was the generic Celexa that the

problem instead. I think I would have cried if it HAD been the

Plaquenil!
