Guest guest
Hi Anita and ny, I use alternative supplements for my Hep C. I follow the protocol of Dr Burt Berkson. (If you google him, you will find lots of info on him and his protocol). I take alpha lipoic acid 600 mg, selenium 400mg and milk thistle 900mg daily.. I also take other supplements as well. Extra Vit B is required as the ALA uses Vit B up. Dr Berkson uses the lab results from albumin, platelets and prothrombin time to gauge liver damage. As long as those test results are in normal range, he believes your liver is functioning ok. There are also some other tests--Fibroscan--Fibrosure--that are not invasive. They are not as accurate as biopsy, but are indicative of liver damage. I've had Hep C 44+ years and am still in fairly good health--I will be 77 in August. I think the main reason is NO Alcohol--for all those years--and a reasonable life style. SuziQ Quinn In the swamp in secluded recesses, a shy and hidden bird is warbling a song.
