You might want to find out how your insurance company deals with this issue before you make any decisions. Are you group insured? I don't think they can drop you if you have your insurance through your employer. Don't quote me it though.

I haven't had any trouble with insurance so far, but I am pretty careful about how much I want to reveal. It depends on why I am going. With my naturopathic doctors, of course, I am free to talk about implants as much as I want because I pay. However, with my endo, I once showed him my list of symptoms that I had after I got sick from implants and he wanted to put a copy in my files, and when I asked him if the insurance would see that list, because I really would rather they didn't, he said I better take it back. It never was put in my file. But of course, the fact that I had implants and had them removed is no secret in my medical file since insurance paid for the explant. They just don't know how many symptoms I had.

I did have them for cosmetic reasons! And yes, they still paid because my doctor knew how to get them to pay. He left out certain details, like the fact that they were saline, that I only had them 8 months, and he suggested that I had Baker IV contractures, which insurances most often view as a liability for future missed cancer diagnosis, so they paid.

So, you have to work with a doctor who knows how to get them to cover it.

Oh, sorry, forgot to mention the insurance company--I was insured through my husband's employer when they were removed. We have since opened our own business and have a different insurance company, but we purchased a group policy for our employees, a PPO. I had a PPO when explanted too.
