Colleen,

You were not rambling.... This is a very honest post. I have heard alot about Dr. Shanklin, all good. When did you actually see him? And yes, you are right to feel betrayed because we have been betrayed by the doctors, the FDA, the manufacturers and the media who choose not to portray our sufferings in favor of the advertising $$$$ they get from everyone involved. It is sad, very sad.

Can you post any of these articles from Dr. Shanklin? I am sure they can be found on the net.

Thanks Colleen, I share in your desire for justice for all of us.

Patty

Dr. Shanklin and I have been talking throughout my ordeal and he has givenme copies of research papers that he and his partner Dr. Smalley havewritten about the effects of silicone not only in breast implants, butnon-mammary devices and even in cosmetics. He also gave me a paper on therelationship between Fibromyalgia and silicone exposure. I would be glad tomail you copies of these reports if you would like them. They are prettyinteresting to say the least. After years of being so sick and not being able to get a firm diagnosis andtreatment from countless doctors, I finally found myself sitting across fromDr. Shanklin. As he pulled out copies of these research papers and told meof all the thousands of women he has documented who were just like me, sickfrom their saline implants, I felt so betrayed by society, the surgeons andthe implant manufacturers. There is all this information out there, yet Iwas not told of one of these things as I, a naive 19 year old, blindlysigned away my life in the cosmetic surgeon's office. I am so angry and sadthat who knows how many other women, thinking that saline implants are safe, will be implanted and become ill and maybe never recover fully (assumingthey are lucky enough to ignore the ignorant doctors out there who treatsilicone poisoning like it is a joke and figure out on their own that theyneed to be explanted).I just can't help thinking there is something that can be done to make somenoise on the subject. No doubt, a law suit would do the trick, but just asyou said, no lawyer I can find will touch it...but I will keep looking. Please forgive my ramblings as my head is one huge fog cloud.Colleen
