Guest guest
Hi there, My name is and I'm 24. I've had moderate (4 on a 10 pt. scale, I'd say) and intermittent abdominal pains for a while now, maybe a year. Around a month ago, this escalated to severe abdominal pain that woke me up in the middle of the night. I attributed it to bad salmon at dinner that evening, and even called the restaurant to complain. I woke up in the morning 3 days later with the same pain and took myself to the ER, where they did blood tests and an ultrasound. Nothing was found and I was given the name of a gastroenterologist with whom to follow up. I ignored that until I started getting weird pains in my mid to upper back (not muscular), sour stomach, heartburn, and more abdominal pain. I also had very dark stool which was sometimes liquid and explosive, sometimes of a normal consistency. I started feeling extremely bloated after meals and got sharp pains if i waited too long between meals. Flatulence was WAY above normal in frequency and severity. The doctor put me on Prevacid and Nu-Lev and scheduled an endoscopy for a suspected ulcer. this came out to be relatively normal, so they sent me in the same day for a radioactive gall bladder scan where the results so far show that my gall bladder is functioning at 21% instead of the normal 35% (just quoting the doctor). No stones or blockage were mentioned, but the doctor wants to keep me on the meds and if i don't get better i'll start talking to a surgeon. I DO NOT want surgery if i can avoid it. Has anyone else had a similar experience? This all seems so sudden to me. I'd like to try cleansing, it can't hurt, right? -elisa
