Guest guest
, Have you read 'The Liver Cleansing Diet' by Dr. Cabot and 'The Southbeach diet' by Dr. Agatston? You may be able to dissolve your stones over time by diet modification as I am forced to do because of my pregnancy. I am currently 28w. I have passed two large stones during this pregnancy (1st trimester) but managed the pain with a dose of epsom salts, drinking 2T oil and 3T lemon juice every half hour, sipping lemon juice in water until the stone passed, and camping out in a dark room with a heat pack, relaxing music, meditation and stretching excercises to 'open up' my upper abdomen. I have now discovered that I am passing small stones with virtually no discomfort at all. In fact if I didn't know what it felt like I wouldn't have paid any attention to the symptoms at all, that's how brief they are! I believe my regime is dissolving the stones so they are able to pass easily. In addition to loosely following Dr. Cabot's diet plan (I needed to modify it for my pregnancy), in conjunction with phase 2 (phase 1 is not sufficient nutrician for pregnancy) of The Southbeach Diet, I take the juice of half a fresh lemon in warm water on an empty stomach each morning, followed by Madura Green tea. Before breakfast, lunch and the evening meal I take 2t Flaxseed oil mixed with 1T lemon juice and my snacks include good fats i.e sardines, avocado, almonds. I take milk thistle, chromate and a multi vitamin with my breakfast and at morning tea I take an iron supplement (I would imagine this is only necessary for me because I am pg) I drink vegetable juice, water and herbal teas during the day, Chamomile at night, and 2 500mg magnesium and 2 500g calcium capsules at bedtime. I think that's all... I know that there are also supplements such as 'stonefree' and others that you can take but I have been unable to ascertain their safety in pregnancy so I am not taking them but for you they would probably be ideal. I hope that this has been in some way helpful to you. Blessings Mama.
Guest guest
What an inspirational post! This is wonderful for people unable to or who are not yet ready to do flush. These are good ideas for a way to AVOID stones to continue forming. --- In gallstones , " The Witt family " <janne@r...> wrote: > You may be able to dissolve your stones over time by diet modification as I am forced to do because of my pregnancy..... Guest guest
Funny you should mention the Southbeach Diet - I just bought it. I'll have to check out Cabot's book, too. You've given me several good and do-able alternatives. At least I have a few good habits to start building on - I prefer my water with fresh lemon in it, drink tea rather than coffee, am fond of almonds as snacks... but I've never been able to drink veggie juices. However, having just downed my second dose of epsom salts, any veggie drink would be a welcome change!! If this can keep me from having to have surgery, I will find a way to get it done! Thanks for the input! I'm still looking for a doctor referal. I know that most of them will recommend surgery right away, and while I'm not willing to do that at this point, I'd still like to track of my condition other than just by whether I'm in horific pain or not. Besides absence of pain or ultrasound, how can I know how effective my liver flushes are? What are ERCP and cholecystography, and what does it take to have one done? Thanks again group. -valerie --- In gallstones , " The Witt family " <janne@r...> wrote: > > I take the juice of half a fresh lemon in warm water on an empty stomach each morning, followed by Madura Green tea. Guest guest
>>>I have a few good habits to start building on ... drink tea rather than coffee<<< Any tea is fine as long as it is tannin and cafeinne free. Herbal is best. >>>Besides absence of pain or ultrasound, how can I know how effective my liver flushes are?<<< You will feel better ) I favour doing a period of stone softening before a flush unless you are forced into a flush because of a stone lodged in the bile duct. If you are forced into that situation, either unprovoked or because you have done a flush, don't panic, just do/repeat flush to dislodge the stone and cause it to pass. I have had a stone stuck a couple of times after a flush and had to flush again, once three nights in a row, to dislodge it. I felt miserable but the repeated flushing worked for me as it had for those (on the curezone messageboard)who suggested it to me. >>>What [is] ERCP<<< Not a proceedure I wish to repeat without very good reason. Particularly when the docs take it into their heads to ignore your specific instructions and think you would be better off having the bile duct snipped - despite the fact that they can't find the stone that they were giving you the proceedure for (I had already told them I was certain I had passed it) and their own report shows that the stones they found in the gallbladder are smaller then the one you have just passed!
