Guest guest
This is a simple test that will let you know where you stand with stomach acid. It is often assumed by most doctors that if there is heart burn that there is excess acid. But lack of acid lets the stomach contents build up too much before it dumps causing the heart burn feel in the esophogus. baking soda test It is supposed to give you an idea about whether or not you have enough stomach acid. To do this test, you mix 1/4 tsp baking soda into 8 oz of water. Drink this first thing in the AM, before food. Time how long it takes you to blelch. Should happen in 2-3 minutes for normal stomach acid. If it happens quickly, and you keep belching, you have too much acid. If it doesn't happen within 5 minutes, you don't have enough acid. Just to find out how baking soda works with an acid, I added 1/4 cup of 5% vinegar to 8 oz of water mixed with 1/4 tsp of baking soda. It bubbled for a long time. wrote: >It's possible that my pancreas isn't functioning fully - my chiropractor >believes it is/was damaged from a year of intense stress that caused >internal lesions. Guest guest
It's possible that my pancreas isn't functioning fully - my chiropractor believes it is/was damaged from a year of intense stress that caused internal lesions. I think the pancreas excretes bicarbonate and maybe I'm not getting enough of that. Also, I'm Type O and Type O's have pretty acidic stomachs. I don't eat meat, so maybe that acid - meant to digest meat - builds up. I know that drinking lemon juice and warm water before breakfast one day gave me one of my worst attacks ever. -----Original Message----- From: Lucinda [mailto:jlsuther@...] Sent: Monday, January 19, 2004 1:54 PM gallstones Subject: Re: Age and GB Attacks Now I'm the opposite, I need more acid to help digest the food and get it out of there quicker! Guest guest
Lemons are actually highly alkaline ash residue...some charts place lemons & watermelon as the most alkaline fruit you can eat. The acid in citrus fruit /pineapple etc (which is hard on tooth enamel) is in now way connected to the acid as in acid /alkiine residue foods..these are 2 different things.....The acic/alkaline definition of foods refers to the ash after digestion in the gut...lemons are very alkaline ..very cleansing & very liver/GallBladder friendly ...Incidentally for all those who replace lemon juice in the flush with grapefruit juice ..grapefruit is not in anyway a specifically liver friendly fruit in fact just the contrary...grapefruit contain a potent liver enzyme inhibitor. Lemon Juice is still my preferred companion for Olive oil in flush..fwiw ----- Original Message ----- From: gallstones Sent: Tuesday, January 20, 2004 11:12 AM Subject: RE: Re: Age and GB Attacks It's possible that my pancreas isn't functioning fully - my chiropractor believes it is/was damaged from a year of intense stress that caused internal lesions. I am wondering about what you said about Grapefruit. Can you give a bit more info on that? I know that when my husband had Lipitor prescribed, they said not to eat Grapefruit with it, that it completely negates the work of the Lipitor, a drug that lowers cholesterol by it's affect on the liver (he isn't taking it right now but trying a natural alternative...we'll see at next blood test if it works and then decide the next course of action if necessary). Can you please point me to some more information on the affect of Grapefruit on the liver? I use it for my flushes and have had better cleanses since, but am not sure if that is because of the Grapefruit of just a coincidence...I do agree that lemon is a wonderful cleanser, it must increase the flow of bile. An old remedy was to have some lemon juice in warm water each morning to get yourself " going " , and the thing that gets people " going " with most laxative type herbs, etc., is the fact that bile flow is increased. Thanks for any input you can give. L.
