Guest guest
Look, as most of you know, I don't like to 'talk' on the list UNLESS I feel I have something to add that PERTAINS TO HepC which I do hope that others also will take into consideration as doing too. I am behind in reading all these e mails that have been sent into the list..so I don't know WHERE or HOW all this 'mess' has come about..but I am assuming that 'someone' felt that someone else was going off in " another " direction. But that is NOT at all what I wish to address here.AND I STRESS AGAIN, I AM NOT ADDRESSING IF OR IF NOT SOMEONE WENT OFF IN A DIRECTION THAT IS OR ISN'T 'ACCEPTABLE! So, I DO HOPE, that if responses are made..this will not get turned around to any of this. What " I " do want to address and to make very clear is: In regards to Elin's response to all this, I felt it was very well stated UNTIL I read the following words and I quote: " In past months, we've seen vice-presidential candidate Joe Liberman be very open and honest about his Jewish beliefs, but look at all the fuss that's been made over Ashcroft (an evangelical Christian) being nominated attorney general. " BECAUSE, ELIN CHOSE TO PUT THESE TWO THOUGHTS WITHIN ONE SENTENCE, in my opinion there is a 'danger' here for misrepresenting what may have been meant here or definitely a big danger for readers to add up these two thoughts getting a false deduction. I want to make it VERY CLEAR to all the readers, that NO JEWISH individual and definitely NO JEWISH RECOGNIZED GROUP is 'making any fuss over Ashcroft being nominated as attorney general BECAUSE HE IS AN EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN'! And that is all I want to make very clear to all of you that read this.and P.S.to Elin, I want to say 'thank you' for 'adding' that " I am definitely not being negative towards Jews, in making that statement, as I very much support the Jews. " It was very heartwarming to hear this. Thank you. --- " Elin L. Criswell " <decriswell2@...> wrote: > I think we've had a very healthy discussion today, on the > subject of > respecting one another's personal beliefs. Guest guest
I knew that when I started on the politics note, that I was risking opening a can worms. But I was simply pointing out the double standard that can so often be seen. And in pointing that out.... to give all of you .... food for thought ... that it is easy for Christians to be prejudiced against. How people are less likely to openly say something against someone for being black, Polish, Italian whatever (insert group here)...... But it just seems to be more and more acceptable to say..... oh, you can't do or say that .... because you're a Christian. I am simply saying that that is not right and Christians need to stand up for themselves. As regards to our list, someone already posted on this thread, the thought about how we can not separate our personal beliefs from how we deal with this disease. How true!! It is part of who we are. We need to accept each other for who are. We're not always going to agree 100% with each person, and that's O.K. Our main goal is to support each other as we go through life dealing with this awful disease. And along the way, it's only natural, that as we write our posts, that we might just show through a bit, giving folks a glimpse of who we really are and what we really think. BTW, thank you, Marilyn, for noting that I was not saying anything against Jews. It really is my desire that this whole discussion be seen in a positive light. Guest guest
Just one more example of why we do what we do.... Yeah, I heard about that on the news. He's in the same boat I was in when I had to have my surgery. I feel for him because I know first-hand how sick he is. Susie
