All I can find is reference made to " burning pain " . I had no acidic burning at all....no reflux, regurtation......nothing.>> Neither did I. Mine was all a pain under my rib and in my back and would move from side to side. No burning, no reflux. However, it was/is (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease)or GERD. It oftentimes acts just like a heart attack and can last for 5 or 6 hours. Mine was diagnosed with an upper GI. One way to find out is - next time it happens take some anti acid and see if it calms down. If it does, your on track. If it doesn't, you need to get some professional help to track it down. I also felt confused about whether it was gb or reflux. I had spoken to an aquaintence who had her gb out recently; she told me to take ibuprofen (Motrin) immediately when the pain starts. If it helps, it's probably gb related. (the ibuprofen helps the inflammation) I did this, and in fact the pain subsided. Conversely, during previous pain episodes, I had tried every type of acid-reducer etc. with NO symptom abatement. I think that the pain I had after starting to take action was stones passing. Your question about looking for things in the bm cracked me up, because I wasn't going to do that either, even though I was very curious to see if anything " stone-like " was there!! I still haven't done a major flush, but hope that when I do, they will be more self-evident. Hope the pain has eased up.
