Guest guest
Will, I totally 100% agree with you about the female liability! 2 of my Great Grandmothers died in Childbirth! We've come a long ways from then! I need expert advice on herbs for perimenopausal support, that' how I ended up with the Gall stones, taking the estrogen as my Gynecologist suggested for the symptoms. Any advice in herbs would be appreciated, I've tried Evening Primrose oil and it gives me horrible headaches. thanks, Dee ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
Hi Dee, I'm not Will, and I'm sure he will have some fine advice for you. My advice to anyone (man or woman) wanting to balance their hormones and thus avoid a lot of health problems is to start with a good Natural progesterone supplement. It's one of the cheapest per month supplements out there and in my opinion gives the most benefit for the buck: http://www.restoredbalanceonline.com/ Vince > Will, > I totally 100% agree with you about the female liability! > 2 of my Great Grandmothers died in Childbirth! Chaste berry may have some use in treating PMS, menopausal symptoms and irr egular perimenopausal bleeding. In Germany physicians prescribe chaste berry for menstrual problems, swelling in the breasts and PMS. Black cohosh - helps relieve hot flashes and is also an emmenogogue, promoting and regulating menstruation (also clinically tested by German docs!). Soy isoflavons - questionable, but often hear them being recommended. Progesterone cream (see Dr Lee's site - very informative) - http://www.johnleemd.com/ I'm sure there are lots of herbals others can recommend, too... Personally, I had trouble with progesterone cream, which caused all kinds of increased pms symptoms (namely bloating and breast tenderness), but there are so many who have reaped its benefits. The key for me was that once I gave up the progesterone cream and started eating properly, flushed and included flax seed oil in my diet, the whole dynamic changed and it was a blessed relief. I think it really depends on each person's unique situation, though, because we're all so different, hormonally. For me, flushing and improving diet (cutting out simple carbs, bat fats and sugars) was definitely the turning point. A clogged, sluggish liver was just not breaking down all that estrogen dominance (like you, it also contributed to my gall stones) and the excess hormones were like toxins floating around in my body that couldn't escape...adding progesterone (this hormone increases in the second half of the cycle, along with estrogen, and sometimes causes pms probs) seemed to exacerbate my problems, too. Progesterone is apparently like a relaxant with sedative properties, but according to Dr Vliet (her book is worth getting - " Screaming to be heard " - also includes info on hormonally increased heart rate, palpatations, flutters, etc) progesterone is also what paradoxically signals the body to retain water, etc. Maybe important to note that adding progesterone can sometimes make symptoms worse, so worth only buying one bottle to start. Also, worth having your hormone levels checked with blood tests, beforehand...these are expensive and insurance companies probably don't appreciate them, so docs are loath to do them! Even begging my doc, she refused. This year, I'm changing my gyne! This was just my experience, though, so, probably trial and error with all these things. What didn't serve me, may well serve you, but just wanted to share my experience. It's late, so hope this makes sense...key is really getting the liver in shape, first. Blessings, n
