Guest guest
Hello everyone! I thought I would check in and let all of you know how I am doing. I had my surgery 8 days ago and am feeling wonderful. I'm still quite sore, can't laugh (without doubling over with a stitch in my side) and have a slooooow digestive tract. I'm eating well though and enjoying alot of food I had to forget about. I never thought having a cookie with my 6 year old could be so joyous! :0) My surgery went well, and luckily the surgeon was able to complete it laporoscopically (barely) Once he got in there and tried to empty my GB, he found the stones to be too large and plentiful.....so he enlarged my belly button incision and pulled it through still in tact. He also took pics while in there, and another of my opened gallbladder so I could see the stones inside. THIS PIC IS ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THING WAS IN MY BODY! As soon as I scan the pic in, I'll post it for you all to see. All I can say is not to let your GB get as bad as mine did! Start eating right, flushing or seeing a doc the moment symptoms arise. The hospital was wonderful to me and treated my apprehension with compassion. The anestesiologist even " snuck " me to sleep by telling my he was giving me some " oxygen " since I was so anxious. They were able to control my pain AND keep my easily nauseated stomach at bay by using three different anti nausea drugs along with the morphine. (Now I see how people can become so easily addicted to that stuff! LOL) I got to go home after just a few hours. I did have one complication however....but it was from the anestesia, not the GB surgery. My intestines puffed up with air and they were protruding into my diaphram....ouch, did that hurt! But a little Gas-X and some walking and I was better in a day. The good part about that little complication is that they did a nuclear medicine test on me to see if there was a nick in my bile duct....and the test came out beautifully with 100% clear and healthy ducts with no nicks OR stones hiding along the way! :0) I'm still slowly getting rid of the CO2 they pumped into my abdominal cavity, I think that was the worse of it. I've gained 4 pounds back. I'm sleeping better. I have color back in my face and I'm much happier!! Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes. I'm really glad I had the surgery, but I really don't think it's for everyone, especially if you have few or small stones that can be easily flushed away. (Trying to protect the integrity of the board and our sponsor) I'll let you all know when I post the nasty, nasty GB pic. You'll just freak! Take care!
