fat. I'm a little confused... and was thinking about purchasing one of

the above mentioned books.

Hi Ronna, Here's my opinion, for what it's worth: There is no

concensus and never will be. There are so many conflicting beliefs

out there that everyone has to look at ALL the facts and decide for

themselves :) For me, no one diet will ever be good enough to base

my dietary and nutritional decisions on. I take what I think is

best from all of them. One note that I learned in biology class:

most cells (don't know about 'every' cell but it may be) have some

fat in their membrane to function properly. There is some of the

harder fat and some of the more liquid fat in most of our cells and

must be or they quickly die. That tells me that my body needs a

certain balence of good fats. That doesn't even begin to settle the

discussion of what is the proper balence and what are good fats. It

is for me at least a starting point :)

HI Vince,

You know, I knew that there was no one " right answer " (there isn't to most

things) but I was getting caught up in wanting to find the magic bullet ...

One thought I've also had about the whole eating fat argument is that when

researching what the kids should have in their diet while growing, I found

that nutritionist emphasize the need for a good level of fat in their diet,

and warn against NON fat products etc. This must also be for their cell

growth, among other things, I'm sure. Not exactly a technical explanation,

but something I recall from when my kids were little ...
