Guest guest
Those few of us chosing to eschew gb surgery after having gallstone problems are looked upon by many out there in the " real world " as some sort of pariah of society. We are particularly scorned by those who have already had their gb removed. Sometimes I get the feeling that some people in my world are just waiting, secretely hoping perhaps, that I will get slapped down again, finally come to my senses, and get the dang thing jerked out like the other half million (sensible) 'Mericans do every year. Even family, coworkers and friends get silent and look at their shoes when I try to discuss my hopes for self cure. Not only do I not get support, many try to scientifically argue with me at every turn, or, worse, tell me that they want me to have the (new, little bitty, and totally-harmless) laporoscopic surgery because they love me and worry that I am taking unnecessary chances with my life. Then come the stories about Aunt so-and-so who is a new person now that she had her surgery. Gak-k-k! So, what I am saying is, " Thank God for a place like this support group! " Thank you, Fellow Nuts! To make matters worse though, when you try to tell these Doubting es (or brain-washed ones) that you are going on what looks like to them a sure-to-kill-ya butter and meat fat laced diet, they REALLY think you have flipped yer lid. I think if I croaked with a gallstone impaction today, a whole bunch of people here would say " serves the dummie right! He was ASKIN' for it! " . Vince, I've practically memorized the NOURISHING TRADITIONS cookbook and all it's sidebar wisdom. We had already joined the WAPF group and enjoy their fine journal and we've attended their meetings. Incidentally, for the lady that asked, they gave, for numerous reasons, a Thumbs-Down review for the South Beach diet book. For those who haven't visited their site, they have a completely different take on the true causes of gallstone formation and cholesystitis. You owe it to your condition to read Dr. Tom Cowan's treatise on the ailment. I found it pretty amazing, logical and completely inspiring. Sure beats scrimping along on a bland mush and no fun. Thanks again everybody, Will in Minneapolis
