Guest guest
HI, My daughter first got systemic JRA in December of 97. It lasted around 8 months and went into remission. A year and a half later it came back. January 4th 2000 to be exact. It was my birthday and we went out for dinner with the family and wasnt eating and said her arm hurt real bad and sure enough the next morning she was burning up with fever. I knew right away that it was back. And it came back much worst the second time. I can only pray that it goes away in 8 months again. So there was a two year time period from the first onset to the second.
Guest guest
Hi , I was just wondering if by remission you meant that your daughter didn't even need to take any meds to maintain good health. Or was she still taking meds but feeling fine and not showing any JRA symptoms? Thanks, Georgina LINDA BUDD wrote: > > HI, My daughter first got systemic JRA in December of 97. > It lasted around 8 months and went into remission. A year and a half > later it came back. Guest guest
Georgina, Yes went into a full remission in august of 98. The doctor said she had such a mild case (Indocin was all she was taking) that it probably wont come back. She was off all medications, and we even went to have her blood checked every six months just to make sure everything was fine. And it was. But it didnt last forever. It came back January 2000. And much worse this time. The arthritis is in three of her joint her knee, elbow, and shoulder and she still gets the fever and rash. She took her 4th dose of metho. last night. I havent seen an improvement yet. I know it can take a while to work. The only thing I have noticed is that her hair is falling out big time. I know it is a side effect from the metho. but it is so hard on her. Has this ever happened to anyone and how do you deal with it. Does it go away. I got her prednisone in pill form this time 1mgs. each so we will start with 5mgs. and after a week go down to 4 and hope it works. Last time I went down to 4 it didnt work and I had to increase again. Well I will keep you updated. Take care, I hope Josh is doing well. Guest guest
, My daughter lost her hair when she 1st started the mtx,but it has now grown back. I bought her a lot of hats to wear until the hair started growing back. I prepared everyone of the possiblity of her hair falling out. I had to encourage her that it would grow back. So she excepted the fact tha her hair was falling out better than I did. Ywellen
Guest guest
Ywellen, Did her hair all fall out or just get real thin? Is she still taking the metho? And how long did the falling out last ? How long did it take to grow back? Sorry for all the questions, but my daughters hair is long curly blond and lately it looks awful and I am afraid of combing it.Because so much is coming out.I try not to show her how upset I get about it . She doesnt seem to mind its me who does all the worrying.
Guest guest
, yes all her hair fell out. Yes she's still talking the mtx. All her hair fell out w/in 2 months. It took her hair about 4 months to grow back. And her hair is no longer falling out. Actually it has thickened up and now I hate combing it. I was in worser shape than you about my baby's hair falling out. It didn't seem to bother her at all and she enjoyed wearing different hats. Sometimes she didn't wanna wear a hat on her bald head, because she said it made her head sweat, so those days she only wore a hat to school. As long as she was ok with that I was too. I learned to adjust and except her decisions about her head. She enjoys being the center of attention and that got her alot of attention at school too. I thought it would lower her self-esteem but instead it builded it up even more. Ywellen
Guest guest
Hi , I can sympathize with you on the school. We thought our son would be having the same Teacher that he's had the past 2 years and be at the same school. But noooo....we got a letter saying that he will have a new Teacher and be at a different school. Oh well, hope he makes the change easily. If your child is under an IEP, this would be considered a change of placement, which can only be done as part of the IEP team decision [or district must take you to fair hearing]. Guest guest
starts middle school and I just haven't been looking forward to this >> Boy do I understand that. My daughter has to switch schools this year as well (she is entering 3rd) and its her first year with a different aide(she had the last one for 4 years.) We know her-my daughter is very familiar with her and likes her, but...a BIG change. So...new school, teachers, therapist, aide...ugh. This is also the " liver/gallbladder " cycle on the Chinese calendar. Liver gallbladder becomes more active in the spring (beginning in late Feb, I believe) and that is when more problems should crop up. Its called the " wood element. " Kidney time is right before liv/gb and that is a dormant time -- different people play their kidney energy diff ways. My husband actually plays his through his kidney, I through my liv/gb and some people from their lungs (flu), Large intestine (stomach flu). I do not know anyone who has fire prob (heart, small intestine, adrenals) in kidney time but it is possible. Another point of view but one that explains the pick up of activity on the forum. Spring is a good time to cleanse the liv/gb because of the energy there.
Guest guest
Dear Group, At this time of year let us all try to find some joy and peace within ourselves. Most of us are blessed with good over-all health. That is the trade off for having the immune system of Superman. Until my rheumy put me on immune suppressants to control my PA & P, I rarely if ever got sick with a cold, virus, the flu or anything else. And I have always worked with the public. I have raised 2 kids thru all kinds of childhood illnesses, but have managed to stay healthy as a horse. And I am sure most of you are the same as me. Sure the arthritis is bad and the neuropathy is worse, but I sometimes think the drugs are the worst of all. And pain medication brings on self-pity, which only makes every little thing seem like the end of our world. But try to have heart at this time of the year. God never gives us more than we can handle. I have an older sister and a younger brother. My condition is from a genetic defect in my family and I know in my heart that I am the strongest of my parents' off-spring. If one of us had to have an autoimmune problem, I am the best choice. And that makes me special! Just like all of you. Without PA, I never would have had to wonderful opportunity to converse with so many of you and feel the concern, love and sympathy from people who understand my life. And that is a true blessing. God bless you all and I hope that you have a good holiday season. Peace to each of you... Sib
Guest guest
Hi Sara, Could it be a lack of pollen type of thing? I used to feel really washed out with pollen, my 'pollen' season used to be March till October. x  Is this the ONLY time of year, he is switched on? Is this the same pattern over the last few years? Gee I'd love to figure this one out:-)) Hmm it was a full moon recently I think the tides are really high this time of year (also in the Spring.) Does this have anything to do with air pressure. I know scientists look at that.... How are all the other kids on the list at the moment? Any similarity to Tom?? In any case, Sara, really nice news:-)) From: Sara Moroza- Subject: time of year To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Date: Monday, 25 October, 2010, 8:07  Hi, Tom is better and better at the moment. In a short space of time, he's gone from being an unreachable kid to looking like he can recover in my humble opinion. This can be partly explained by I.I. and some supplements but it's more than that and anyway, it's been a while since I've introduced anything ...... He's in a fantastic mood, even when I'm not, even when no-one's doing I.I. and he KEEPS telling me how happy he is. This happens every single year. I'm so petrified of losing it again in the New Year. What can it be? Why would he be good now? and getting better? I don't want to lose him AGAIN!! Guest guest
It can't be that Tracey because he's better now than in the summer. I've thought so much about this. This is not the first year. I think that either an allergen has disappeared because of the cold weather (although that wouldn't explain why he goes downhill in January) or the central heating???? (unlikely and that wouldn't explain the decline in the new year either) or something to do with autumn? I don't know Sara x

Guest guest
Dear Sara  How frustrating for you... my thinking with sunshine etc is that this is the time the kids recharge and energise ahead of a growth spurt and have a period of calm ahead of the growth which in this family starts any time from late November onwards... and our problems with lack of co ordination and emotional wobbles in the boys often hits in January..  I really hope that you are able to capture this elixir to allow this fantastically positive stage to last even longer.   Tracey  It can't be that Tracey because he's better now than in the summer.I've thought so much about this. Guest guest
One of the histamines (H3) depresses serotonin so if an allergen is no longer present, I guess the histamine wouldn't be so elevated and thus serotonin down...That's all I can think of at the moment.Sara, Are you using more of the blue light because the days are shorter (although I'm sure you've already thought of that.)
