Guest guest
I didn't mean to rave too much about chocolate, I just wanted to point out that it isn't all bad and that there are HUGE differences in types of chocolate. It is very psycho-active and many people who are ENDORPHINE DEFICIENT, people who need a buzz about 3 pm and have found out that caffeine or chocolate is an instant relieve from the depression and funk of that deficiency, need to be careful. It's true that one can get quite addicted to chocolate. If you feel a strong love affair with chocolate, it's probably best not to head towards more. Taking some d-phenylalanine (DPA) and lots of good protein foods throughout the day could build your endorphine system back up without getting into some of the traps that artificial buzzes give you. It is a great way to cure cravings and mood eating. Chocolate itself is a natural substance and herbal. It also has about 5 major opiate and marijuana-like substances. It gives a really fantastic " pleasure " buzz and if you mix it with sugar, dairy or wheat the buzz is multiplied off the chart. As they say, " it could lead to harder stuff " . We all know how this works. Our local restaurant has a dessert they call " Death by Chocolate " . Hummm. The bad news is that it is addictive to some, it is not a true high, only temporary and can really put on the pounds. So watch out. Like alcohol or sugar it's playing with fire if you are using it for mood-altering. The book MOOD CURE by Ross has fantastic information about the addictive issues with chocolate. There are sources for organic chocolate listed in the back of the book THE MAKER'S DIET by Jordan Rubin. The good news is that good and real chocolate is loaded with anti-oxidants, bioflavinoids, pigments and vitamins and minerals for health. My wife is a professional pastry chef AND involved with holistic nutrition so she has to really be careful with all these addictive substances. However, she eats a bit of chocolate EVERY DAY and she's a slender, athletic and super-healthy beauty. It probably helps that she is a full-tilt Virgo and very disciplined with her indulgences. Ha ha. Best wishes for your exploration, Will in Minneapolis
Guest guest
Hey Will and All... I must say that I LOVE chocolate. A little makes me want more and it becomes a big control issue with me. I have about 50 pounds to shed and I am eating wholesome foods and doing a Bible study as well. Healthy is the focus for me. Thanks for all the chocolate info. I enjoyed the lesson.
