Guest guest
Will, I live 3 hours from the border of Mexico, we live near the Gulf of Mexico, and I had no idea Lard is good for a person, I avoid tamales and only allow myself to eat them around the holidays. Why is Lard good to eat? I thought it was from animal fats? Also, I'm not a drinker but I've reading about the good benefits from drinking red wine, and what particular brands are the most beneficial for the heart as well as overall health. Does this help the GB and digestive tract or is it mainly for cardiovascular health. thanks, Dee ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! Guest guest
Dee, I should qualify the LARD REPORT by saying there are some religious bans on all pork and that should be observed for those people. I don't eat much pork myself because of the increased parasite risk (my herbs should kill the few I pick up) and I always eat my pork well-done. I also avoid all the nitrite and additive pork such as commercial bacon, ham and sausage. We do eat the farmer smoked meats that don't have additives at all. Never eat lard from confinement pork either. It's loaded with Omega-6, food-poisoning organisms, antibiotics, pesticides and god knows what else. Hog confinement is one of the CRUELLEST animal tortures on the planet too as well as being intrinsically super-polluting. The industry kills small farmers and is owned by agri-giants like ADM and Cargill. It supports earth-killing GMO grain crops big time. Get PASTURED PORK products only and preferrably ORGANIC. People in 3rd world countries usually have backyard or free-ranging pigs. Get any good RED WINE, such as a California Cabernet, Burgandy, Merlot, or Shiraz. Italian wines such as Chianti is great, or almost all French wines are fantastic. Many good wines now come in from Spain and Australia too. We drink wine in the $7-14/bottle range. We try to find ORGANIC as much as possible. It takes some getting used-to for these DRY wines (ie no added sugar) but they go good with pasta, pizza, steak, fish and hardy meals. It's the red wine with all the anti-oxidants, free-radical scavengers and health benefits, but not white. Grape juice has them too but the glycemic index is harsh and could contribute greatly to Syndrome X. Never drink more than 2 glasses a day. You can get many of the same benefits of red wine from GOOD CHOCOLATE. Get it from Switzerland, Austria or Belgium (or a few good US makers like Giardelli or Newman's Own). Never eat Nestle's or Hershey's as it is 100% fake. Select chocolate that is DARK, semi-sweet or bittersweet and a minimum of 70% chocolate solids. We eat 85% chocolate solids now which is so powerful that a 2 " X2 " square will fill anyone up. You can't over-eat it, it's too strong. Milk chocolate is too sugary to be good for you. Again, dark, bitter chocolate is an acquired taste but very good for you.
Guest guest
Wow, I'm really glad you shared all this information with us, Will. I didn't know that about chocolate... can you get more specific about how it helps us?
