I was told to have a bland diet -- salt and pepper, no spice, a tsp of oil a day total on all my foods, brown rice, lots of veggies, fresh apple juice and apples and pears, a little chicken -- I think there are a few more things, but you get the idea. The supplements I used were milk thistle, dandelion, burdock, and some chinese herbs. Nothing " hot " and spicy since the GB was already hot. This was not a long term plan, just designed to quiet down the inflammation. I was even told to start slow on beet juice and other things provoking to the GB (even in a good way) to get it soothed and the inflammation down. Oh, I forgot, the colon has to get cleaned out and stay cleaned out. I take herbal colon cleaner caps daily and also a Hi Lipase(enzyme) to keep the sludge in the GB from getting too congealed. Try Mama's plan for a week and see what happens. She also wrote a few weeks ago what she did when she was having an attack, which was pretty soothing and seemed smart to me...I would certainly try it -- it was tea and lemon juice and/or grapefruit juice and water I think, and gentle stretching to open up the GB area. Guest guest
Pleas describe a gall bladder attack? This may sound crazy but I do not know what I am experiencing. Glenny ----- Original Message ----- From: Beth Baugh gallstones Sent: Thursday, April 01, 2004 3:15 PM Subject: Help - gallbladder inflammed for two weeks now! Hello everyone! Please help me if you can. My gallbladder has been inflamed for over two weeks now. I have found that the olive oil flushing no longer can work for me because it just increases the inflammation. My doctor is alarmed at me for not having it removed. He says it can burst or turn gangrene. I have to admit I am frightened by those words, yet I have read so many horror stories of the results of gb removal. Does anyone know how I can save my gb at this point? Am I beyond the point of no return? I have cut out all sugar and eat very little to no meat. Actually, I have increased nausea so I am eating very little of anything! I am trying to eat a lot of pineapple (fresh) as well as lots of Aloe Vera Juice, both are supposed to be could for inflammation. And I am taking probiotics and other supplements (when I am not too nauseated!) Last night my gb swoll up and is still like that today. But the burning sensation is beginning to diminish since I started the pineapple and aloe. I am drinking as much water as I can get down. I was taking cayenne tincture but quit yesterday wondering if this might be aggravating my problem. My attacks come more often and more easily now. It only takes a bite of something too spicey and I will be down the next day with an attack. This usually occurs where I have an occasion to eat in a restaurant or in someone else's home where I have no control over the cooking. I have been wearing castor oil packs daily and find if I don't wear them now, I am worse off. But even with the packs, I am in pain on my right with nausea, dizziness, and feelings of fainting at times. I cannot sleep on my left side or my back because of the swelling. I have even developed something called bacterial arthritis in my left shoulder. I read that this can result from inflammation of the gallbladder, lungs or kidneys. Sounds like a lot bacteria floating around in my body! I am really afraid that my gb will burst. Has anyone saved their gb from a condition such as mine? If so, please tell me what you did! BTW, I am planning to use a clay poultice in my gb tonight. I am just hoping that this will draw out some of the inflammation and restore me to some better health. If this isn't a good idea, please tell me. thanks to everyone, Dewyeyes --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
Dear Deweyeyes, There does sometimes come a point when your condition has progressed too far and there is no more that you can do, then you MUST have your Gallbladder removed for the reasons that your doctor has given you. None of us are able to advise you whether it has gone that far for you as we cannot see you so YOU must calmly assess your situation and listen to what your instinct is telling you. I will be praying for you as soon as I have typed this message and will continue to do so. How many flushes have you done over what period of time? Possibly you have just seriously over irritated your GB and you need to let it recover? Have you had bloodwork done to assess liver enzymes, white bloodcell count etc? Are you jaundiced? Are you able to find a Naturopath in your area who has experience in GB disease? This is so important in helping with your stress levels which affect your liver. Which area are you in? Maybe someone on the list knows of someone in your area. I was told to take a natural antibiotic - Olive Leaf www.naturesway.com Normally I was told to take 1, three times per day but in extreme illness I was told to take 2, four times per day for two days, then reduce it to the normal. Maybe you could investigate this? When I first discharged myself from hospital my naturopath/nutricianist put me on a two week diet with NO meat or protein whatsoever to ease the pressure off my liver and gallbladder. I had 1T organic Apple Cider Vinegar (I now have fresh lemon juice) in a glass of warm water first thing in the morning. Half an hour later I had 2 Acidophilus and Bifidus capsules with two glasses of warm water. Starting half an hour later I ate 6 small meals spaced out over the day. First up organic muesli with rice milk, then Lots (well I wasn't eating a great deal) of raw vegetables in salad with garlic, organic cider vinegar, and flaxseed oil dressing, stir fried veg (onion, cauli, brocolli, red pepper) for dinner with garlic and organic Tamari, lots of raw vegetable juice (including beet) during the day, Madura green tea (caffeine/tannin free) twice per day. 2 Flaxseed oil capsules with three meals and I sipped freshly squeezed lemon juice in water when I wasn't eating/drinking anything else. I also took Milk Thistle capsules. I think that's all \ Incidentally I was told NOT to eat pineapple or any spices. I don't know whether any of this will help you or whether it is even right for your body type but at least you can investigate whether these things might help you. Many Blessings Mama. ----- Original Message ----- From: Beth Baugh gallstones Sent: Friday, April 02, 2004 8:15 AM Subject: Help - gallbladder inflammed for two weeks now! Hello everyone! Could you take your own food when you eat at someone's home? I doubt they will be offended since you have been seriously ill and you are not asking them to cook something special for you. I make a pot of lentils or split peas that I eat on for the week and it would be an easy meal to pack up and take with you. Split peas or lentils with rice is a low-fat wholesome filling meal and if you cook them with lots of vegetable (I usually use carrots, onions, sometimes celery, maybe a turnip or two) they are a meal in a bowl. Most restaurants are accomodating of food issues since so many people are allergic to things and with the Atkins diet they have had to become very flexible. You could prob get a vegetarian low-fat meal then ask for sliced grilled chicken if you wanted to up the protein content since cheese if not a good idea with gb issues. Hope this idea helps you find a way to accommodate your needs long enough to determine if you can really get this gb thing under control or if you need to think seriously about surgery.
