Glenny,

It's often mistaken for a heart attack--that's how bad it is! It's a tight,

squeezing pain just under the middle of the ribcage that can radiate

straight through to the middle and upper back and right side. It is

relentless--like one long neverending labour contraction. In fact, after

going through several of these, I think that I could now walk through

childbirth without any drugs! Bring it on! Anyhow, like someone said before,

a gb attack is spelled P-A-I-N-!-!-!

I had my first severe gb attack when I was 28, and went to the hospital. My

gb was inflamed and infected and they actually kept me there hooked up to

some major antibiotics for a week! And that really says something to me

about the seriousness of an inflamed gb, because here in Canada, hospitals

are always pushing you out the door! I was actually begging to go home by

the end of that week.

So, if you haven't seen a doctor, don't be a vigilante. Though I admit that

I've found that doctors don't know EVERYTHING, there is still much worth in

the medical system. I don't think your health is something to mess around

with. I regret having my gb out (it was taken out about a month after the

hospital stay) because I still have problems with forming stones in my bile

duct--which produces the same kind of attack that I described above.

However, because my gb was inflamed and infected, who am I to say that I

could have sucessfully treated myself and spared myself from surgery?

Someone before did admit that sometimes there just isn't an option......

All that said, I encourage you to go to the doctor and have it checked out,

so that you at least know what you're dealing with.

Cheerio,

Leah
