Guest guest
Looks good, Kat. Here are Bee's coconut oil requirements: " Buy a good quality virgin or extra virgin 'unrefined' coconut oil that is cold- or expeller-pressed, unrefined, unbleached, undeodorized and non-hydrogenated. " (tho there is no such thing as " extra virgin " coconut oil; that term is only valid with olive oil.) Just a bit cheaper than I've been able to find Nutiva; will have to compare shipping costs. Thanks! > > Is NSI an accepted brand of coconut oil? The coconut oil at Jedwards, even with their ridiculously high shipping, costs $0.34/ounce.

The lowest I've found is about $0.34/oz shipped and I do believe the quality is similar to Nutiva.
Guest guest
, I have purchased Bali Sun for less than the price you found, but not for less than the Jedward. Do you know anything about that brand? This is what they say about it. Re: Refined Coconut Oil: Tropical Traditions Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil DOES NOT use solvent extracts. It is made the " old " way by expeller-pressed mechanical extraction. This oil is also NOT hydrogenated, and contains NO trans fatty acids. It is a very good quality food-grade coconut oil. Tropical Traditions Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil is made from certified organic coconuts that have NOT been treated with chemicals or fertilizers. It is certified organic according to European and USDA standards. Our Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil is high in the medium chain fatty acids, such as Lauric acid. Organic Expeller-Pressed Coconut Oil is less expensive than Virgin Coconut Oil, and because it goes through a steam deodorizing process the taste is very bland, unlike Virgin Coconut Oil which retains the odor and taste of fresh coconuts. Some people prefer a bland, tasteless oil. This coconut oil is solid below 76 degrees F. and liquid above that. All the best, Bee

Guest guest
Hi Kat, The last time I ordered coconut oil, I ordered a container of Nutiva and a container of the NSI (from Vitacost). I couldn't tell any difference between the two, and the NSI brand was a bit cheaper. H. > > > > Hi, > > Is NSI an accepted brand of coconut oil? Guest guest
Hi L, Thank you for your answer, I will try another brand because I live in France so they would not be able to replace it if I have a problem. All the best, Adri. > > Adri - I was just going over my coconut oil discussion posts that I've saved over time and I, too, read where someone said Bee accepted the expeller-pressed (refined) TT oil. > > Here is my experience with that oil: I purchased a qt (or a similar size) and liked it. So I purchased three gallons. But when those 3 gallons arrived, they smelled horrible. They sent me three more (at no charge). They also smelled horrible. They finally replaced them (for free) with their green label oil, which is " OK " but I'm sure Nutiva is less costly and 'just as good'. So customer service - excellent. Refined CO...not so much... I don't even want to use the stuff on my skin, it smells so badly. I feed it to my dogs and chickens... > > L in WA > began 03/09/

Guest guest
Is there a temp that is too high for coconut oil to be stored in? I leave mine out and it is always liquid. If I put it in the fridge, it is too hard to use. It gets up to 90 degrees in my house ( so far) I am asking because I am thinking of trying the one from Vitacost as it is so cheap and seems to fit the standards, but I am wondering if I should use standard shipping which takes 3 to 6 days. I don't know how the ones I buy at the store are shipped to the store. Right now I pay about $14 for 16 ounces. It is very good (Natures Way EfaGold, it smells heavenly and tastes good too) but if I can get it cheaper, and still have it be good, I will. :-) Has anyone *tried* this one yet? :-) http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Extra-Virgin-Certified-Organic-Coconut-Oil-54-fl-oz#\ IngredientFacts
Guest guest
Hi, I haven't tried the Vitacost coconut oil. Perhaps someone else can comment on that. It's fine to keep coconut oil on the countertop in a warm house. Imagine that for centuries people in the warm climates of Asian nations have kept coconut oil without refrigeration. Coconut oil is known to keep for two years without going bad, so I think standard shipping is fine. Group Moderator > > Is there a temp that is too high for coconut oil to be stored in? Guest guest
Hate to re-visit an old topic, but I'm all about bargains - has anyone tried the Jedward CO? I'm afraid to try anything but the Nutiva, since I know I like that one! > Not personally, just a recommendation that it 'tastes like Nutiva' only cheaper... > > > > here is the link to the Jedward site: > > <http://www.bulknaturaloils.com/Products/15731-coconut-oil-virgin-organic.aspx> >
Guest guest
Hi, : I switched to the Mountain Rose coconut oil, and it is just fine; last time I ordered it was about $50 to $51, including shipping. I am considering ordering an additional gallon, and I think I will get it from Jedward, just to see how it is. Looks like Jedward will take a week or more to get to me. I will post about Jedward once I have actually received and tasted their coconut oil. If money were no object, I might stick with Nutiva (their service is good), but I object to paying as much as $35 more for just one gallon of coconut oil. Nutiva is good, but IMO it's not that much better than anything else I've tried. Pam Maltzman > > Hate to re-visit an old topic, but I'm all about bargains - has anyone tried the Jedward CO?
