Guest guest
Howdy! I feel your pain! I lost my beloved beagle, Molly, 2 years ago yesterday. Odd how timing works. I took her to the Vet & he gave her an antibiotic injection, a 7-day packet of Cortisone and antibiotic tablets. He said it was an auto-immune disease & he couldn't tell me much more than that. SEVEN days later, she ran to me & dropped dead. I mourn her passing to this day. Mostly because she was my constant companion for 11 years, but then because she was mistreated, wrong diagnosis, wrong meds that brought on her death. Looking back, I have since decided that she had a severe yeast infection, the wrong food and improper medical treatment. And that breaks my heart. I have a 7 yr. old chihuahua mix that was also showing signs of a yeast infection. What the Vet called HOT SPOTS, are actually FUNGAL spots. Constant itching, till raw, rough & dry pads (Athlete's PAW), hair loss, eye goo, ear infection, drainage & smelly. Plus their POOPS look odd, wrong color, wrong consistency, mucous filled, etc. And please remember that if ONE DOG has yeast overgrowth & it shares a water dish with other pets... sadly, ALL of your pets will get it. A trick I learned is to fill a bowl up with fresh filtered water at the beginning of the day. Then at bedtime put it up on the countertop & put down a new water bowl. Let that bowl sit for a couple of days & it will turn PINKISH & have SCUM on the bottom & sides. FOOD is a GIGANTIC issue. I have found that ALL major brands contain CORN, rice, brewer's yeast, etc. These inflame the fungus. I found the most helpful info at this site: http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/systemic_yeast_mini_course.htm Then I discovered this site: http://pet-grub.com/ He writes about RAW MEAT for your dogs. Hamburger mixed with bone meal & many specific vitamins & supplements. Please take the time to read about & view photos of what JUMBO went through on his road to wellness. http://pet-grub.com/the_sick_pet_project/jumbo I read this before I found BEE's site for myself. So I already knew about HEALING REACTIONS from the little dog's story. A whole lot of UGLY has to come out on the road to wellness. It helped me to understand many reactions I've had from BEE's program. After seeing what JUMBO went through, my problems are minuscule. My little guy has been on the RAW MEAT DIET for almost 4 months. His coat has gotten softer & thicker. His paws are soft again & BLACK. His nose is again BLACK, instead a brownish puke color & dry. He is friskier. His poops are almost normal, still a bit runny. His muscles have returned & he is quite handsome again! I apologize for not knowing anything about the names of the disorders you wrote about. Are you sure it is not some HEALING REACTIONS??? What are you FEEDING him? Please be careful about any PROBIOTICS due to dogs not being able digest many of the ingredients they contain. You could do more harm than good. That's about all I know on the subject. I will say a prayer for your pet & I hope you find some answers. DeBBie ----------------------------------------- > > Hi,my dog has gone from bad to horrible in a matter of a month and Im terribly worried. I had treated him holistically most of his life, he's 8 years old, but the holistic doctor did many things that were not okay - I am moving on from her, but my dog declined very rapidly under her care. He is almost critical now, he developed a malassezia infection, an enterococcus infection and a staph infection, along with ringworm and possibly mange in a matter of 1 1/2 months. His body is going haywire. I cant leave him alone or he will literally scratch himself to death. He has gouged his throat, his face, he is living with a cone on his head and his dewclaws wrapped up all the time. I wanted to know if there are any good resources or literature availble for dogs with severe systemic yeast infections? or know of any websites or anything that I can do that can help. He's going to a conventional vet because things became very unstable, and he is seeing a dermatologist. He's on a host of drugs now, and Im worried about them too. > He is eating natural balance venison and sweet potatoe with cooked meat thrown in. Ive stopped all herbs except he is getting stonybrook farm yogurt. I dont know if the herbs may interact with all of the drugs he is on. Ive been in a panic over how he has declined so quickly. Thanks for your help! > Barb >

Guest guest
Hi Barb, We feed our dog the BARF (bones and raw food) diet and she is thriving. She's 7 years old and has been eating this way for nearly 3 years. She is basically following Bee's diet. LOL! We also give her coconut oil, cod liver oil and butter. You can do a search for BARF diet for dogs to see what you come up with. I think your dog would do better without the sweet potato and yogurt since these foods have carbohydrates in them which feed the candida. What they eat is more important than anything else, in my opinion. Hope that helps! Group Moderator > > Hi,my dog has gone from bad to horrible in a matter of a month and Im terribly worried. Guest guest
He DeBBie, Im so sorry about your dog, Molly. I lost my cat a year ago, he had severe yeast and developed staph, they had him on endless antibiotics. After bad vet care, and misdiagnoses, he died. It breaks my heart to think about it. Thanks for the links and advice. I switched him to grain free, but so many grain free foods have bad stuff too - this one I just saw has potatoe in it. I would like to do all homecooked. The worst part is how bandaged up he is, and he's living in a cone almost 24 hours a day. I cant leave the house, yet Im the sole caregiver for my father who has cancer. Its been really challenging, and I dont know how to keep going on. I am so frustrated with vets, and now he is on heavy duty antibiotics for an enterococcus bacteria. Thanks again for your help, I hope to be able to report better things soon! Barb > > > > > Howdy! > > I feel your pain! I lost my beloved beagle, Molly, 2 years ago yesterday. Odd how timing works. Like Bee's pgm, it takes time to adjust and get 'everything' you need and the skill to find what you need. the size of your dog will determine how you feed (smaller do better with ground meat, larger to better with whole meat). I've got two labs (both over 90#) so i can serve them whole hunks of meat or a chicken quarter. So those are the types of meat I look for bargains while I'm looking for family food deals. We have a populace of Mexicans here so we've got 'specialty' stores which sell pork fat and slabs of liver (tho I'm sure that is available anywhere). Bee had previously recommended feeding dogs 80% fat, 20% protein (which follows her All Meat/Fat pgm) and I think she got that information from Taubes, if memory serves correctly. I can look for more information if the links you've been given aren't enough for you at this moment. For instance, my dogs each get just around 1# meat, bone, offal per day; i feed them once/day. They get about 3 oz of fat (including coconut oil), 1.5 oz liver, then the rest is meat with bones. Some days they get a whole chicken breast/wing combo which is more meat, less bone. Some days, I give them no bone. Some days, they get a rib to chew on. They are very happy doggies... moderator
