Guest guest
Bee, Is HCL the same as a proteolytic digestive enzyme? I read that supplementation with such can destroy one's natural lipase and thus impair their ability to digest fats. I'm up to 9 HCL per meal now and still get no burning. At the same time, I've lost 13 lbs since switching to the candida diet. That might sound great except I'm 6'2 " and am now down to a mere 143 lbs. I was 156 lbs when I started. It's getting scary. I don't think I can lose any more weight and I fear my body is going to run out of fat stores to digest. I seem to see small fat particles in my stool, so I don't think my body is absorbing the fat I do take in. Thoughts? Chris
Guest guest
> > Bee, > > > Is HCL the same as a proteolytic digestive enzyme? +++Hi Chris. No it is not the same and that's why HCl is not called a digestive enzyme. Proteolytic digestive enzymes are enzymes produced by the pancreas and intestines that break down protein. HCl starts breaking down proteins which is completed by the intestines. +++ I read that supplementation with such can destroy one's natural lipase and thus impair their ability to digest fats. +++Lipase and amylase are produced in the mouth which starts digestion of carbs/sugar and some kinds of fats. But when HCl gets up high enough in the stomach it neutralizes lipase and amylase which stops their digestion of fats and carbs. +++Fats and carbs continue to be digested in the small intestines, along with more protein digestion. However, all digestive enzymes produced after the stomach only work in an alkaline environment. That's why the pancreas first pours lots of baking soda on the contents emptying out of the stomach. +++ I'm up to 9 HCL per meal now and still get no burning. +++You can take a maximum of 10 per meal, and some meals that are smaller may require less. If you are starving your body has to rob your muscles, bones and fat stores in order to keep vital organs functioning like the brain, heart, etc., but on this program you are not starving. Your body runs on nutrients from foods and supplements you are consuming daily, including fats. On this program your body switches over from using glucose/sugar as it's main source of energy to using good fats as its main source of energy, but that doesn't mean your body is using up fat stores in your body to do that. +++Those particles in your stool are bits of mucus, not fat. +++Most of the good fats I recommend do not require digestive enzymes nor bile in order for them to be absorbed directly from the small intestines through the lymphatic system directly into the bloodstream - see this to understand your lymphatic system: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/lymp1.php Weight is the least of your issues when you are unhealthy. When your body is unhealthy it needs all of its resources and energy to heal and detoxify itself, so it is not able to work on building up fat or muscles. Weighing less does not mean you are worse off, or will get worse, if you are totally on this program since your body is getting all of the nutrients it needs to get and stay healthy. As you become more healthy your weight will normalize to what it should be. All the best, Bee
