pain medication following surgery

Two weeks ago I had surgery to repair a badly fractured wrist. So far, I have

taken only Tylenol for pain, but it's been pretty rough at times. I got the

cast off yesterday and started physical therapy today. Both the surgeon and the

physical therapist scolded me for not taking something stronger than Tylenol,

warning that I will never get the mobility back if I'm limited by pain in what I

can do in the therapy sessions. What would you recommend? I really don't want

to take anything stronger than Tylenol, and I don't even like taking that. But

I don't want to jeopardize my recovery.

Thank you.

*** Hi

I'm going to give you the links to two articles on Bee's site that concern pain

relief, but please understand I'm just a moderator and NOT Bee. Read the

articles carefully to see if they can apply to you. Bee should sign back on in

the morning and give accurate info if I'm off-base...

+++Hi ,

It is totally false you will never get back your mobility if you are limited by

the pain created by physical therapy! How insane is that?

Our ancestors didn't have pain killers yet they got injuries and became mobile

and strong again so they were able to hunt and fish, etc., but they did it

gradually.

I've heard this happening to many other people getting physical therapy, and it

is totally wrong of doctors and physical therapists to push a person's body so

much they demand you suppress the pain by taking toxic pain killers!!! That's

why I'd never get physical therapy, and instead get mobile again so I don't feel

pain.

Pain is a signal by the body that something is not right, so I'd pay more

attention to that.

Getting an area flexible and stronger should be slow and gradual so you do not

get pain, but of course exercising muscles is over-emphasized, while eating

properly is totally neglected. It is more important for your muscle strength to

get the nutrients your body needs to heal itself and makes the tissues strong

again.

All the best, Bee

+++Hi ,

Thank you for helping me.

However, the issue has is not because she needs a natural pain killer, it

is because physical therapy pushes her body so much it causes pain and I totally

disagree with their thinking. Read my reply to so you understand.

All the best, Bee
