most of us in ketosis most of the time. HOWEVER, the concern was raised that

program during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but I need some assurance that this

is something that you have researched well. I know good nutrition is paramount

to giving the baby the best odds of being healthy, and following this program

provides the best nutrition, but there are so many unknowns when is comes to

fetal development. And there's no " do-over " . :)

don't use fit-day every day, but did check my numbers for yesterday and found I

only had about 30g carbs, while my ratios allow for up to 50g. Should I strive

to eat more veggies to get my carb numbers higher, and reduce my possibility of

ketosis?

+++Hi . Your body naturally produces ketones after not eating for 12

hours so how can they be harmful? Ketones are definitely not harmful to you or

your fetus, and they are very healthy and important for proper brain and nervous

system development and function, as well as the preferred energy source for the

heart - see this article to understand: http://www.biblelife.org/ketosis.htm

Do not be concerned about consuming lower carbs since carbs are not necessary

for health anyway. But it is important to meet your protein and fat ratios,

although they can be a lot higher and not cause any problems as long as your fat

ratio is at the lower range or higher.

All the best, Bee

Hi ,

I thought I'd pass along this information to you:

Last fall I was at a medical conference for parents with children with epilepsy

who are treating the condition with a ketogenic diet. One of the doctors (MD,

PhD) found in his research of the ketogenic diet (which is basically the same as

Bee's) that ketosis has neuro-protective qualities, meaning that being ketosis

is a type of protection for the brain and nerves. This is why they believe it

helps epilepsy.

I hope that helps to ease your mind a little. I understand how nerve-wracking

it can be to go against 'status quo,' especially since you're doing it while

you're pregnant and responsible for another living being. But believe me,

you're doing the right thing!
