Guest guest
Hi Arielle, I don't know what your reasons are for being a vegetarian. Mine were primarily ethical and spiritual (I was veg. for several years). I started to read about the Native Americans and other indigenous people's respect for all life forms, about the respect they had for the lives of the animals they took. This made me look differently at taking the life of an animal. Our modern culture has an aversion toward recognizing death in the cycle of life. The truth is, we must take life in order to live. It is now my strong belief that plants have levels of consciousness similar to that of animals, so to me it is not " wrong " to take the life of an animal as opposed to that of a plant. The important thing is to be grateful for our food, no matter what the source. Witnessing my health decline while on a vegetarian diet further convinced me that human beings are not designed to eat that way. That must mean that it is acceptable, ethically speaking, for us to eat animals. It also helps to make the transititon to eating meat to buy from local farmers who treat their animals well. Hope that helps, On Wed, May 11, 2011 at 7:26 AM, Arielle <arielle_gordon@...> wrote: > > > Thank you so much all for your words of encouragement and your own success > stories, they are very inspiring.
