Guest guest
I'm 16.5 weeks pregnant. Been on Bee's program fully since last summer, and have stayed on it through the pregnancy so far. Have a couple of pregnancy related questions. I mentioned to a midwife friend that when I go for my prenatal visits, my urine tests is high for ketones. NOT a surprise, as I suspect this diet keeps most of us in ketosis most of the time. HOWEVER, the concern was raised that ketones are harmful for the developing baby's brain. I know, Bee, that you've said there is no reason to make changes to this program during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but I need some assurance that this is something that you have researched well. I know good nutrition is paramount to giving the baby the best odds of being healthy, and following this program provides the best nutrition, but there are so many unknowns when is comes to fetal development. And there's no " do-over " . Secondarily, is it possible to not be in ketosis but still be " on program " ? I don't use fit-day every day, but did check my numbers for yesterday and found I only had about 30g carbs, while my ratios allow for up to 50g. Should I strive to eat more veggies to get my carb numbers higher, and reduce my possibility of ketosis? Thanks
