Guest guest
depends on the situation and the person . Re: To hardasnails re "bad" estrogen and hot flashes I just want to add to the evidence here about iodine & candida. I have battled candida for many years now, and have learned how to keep it in check and can quickly tell when it's not. After a week of starting iodine (for thyroid) at 2-6 gms/day, I was completely overwhelmed with candida. I stopped the iodine to try to reign in the ugly little beasts, but now I am wondering what the solution is... -- > > > > > > "from increase of bad flora due to iodine killing of good > bacteria." > > > > > > I' ve been wondering about this issue for some time. Guest guest
I thought it was the other way around. I was found via a complete stool test from GSDL to have an ALKALINE stomache and a heavy overgrowth of candida among other things. Guest guest
An acidic colon is what encourages Candida. You want to have an acidic stomach and an alkaline intestine. The baking soda sets the right pH levels in both. You have issues because your stomach is alkaline. Re: Candida I thought it was the other way around. Guest guest
GOTTCHA! I'm not the scientific one here so I lump stomache, colon etc all into one and they are not. Didn't know that baking soda was good for correcting achlorydia. I have read the iodine will correct it though and I'm waiting to see what happens over time. I may check into this baking soda thing. thanks, Carol B > > An acidic colon is what encourages Candida. You want to have an acidic > stomach and an alkaline intestine. Guest guest
No problem. My mom takes Baking Soda with Buffered C powder to help with detoxing. Her Dr is in with Dr. Brownstein and they recommend using Bob's Red Mill Aluminum Free. Steph Re: Candida > GOTTCHA! Guest guest
Thanks . I do use aluminum free though I should double check that. I purchased a 5 lb bag from my co-op as I use it to brush my teeth with as well. Carol B > > No problem. My mom takes Baking Soda with Buffered C powder to help with > detoxing. Guest guest
I read somewhere that cream of tartar is good for removing candida. was I wrong or does both baking soda and cream of tartar do the same thing. thanks Margo > > No problem. Guest guest
Hi Margo. I believe is saying that baking soda will correct PH which in turn helps eleminate candida. Cream of Tartar will not correct the PH. Carol B (I also remember a discussion somewhere (not here) where the use of Cream of Tartar was controversial. Probably a candida group. Something about it being bad for you but don't quote me on it. At least not with my memory. LOL) > > > > No problem. My mom takes Baking Soda with Buffered C powder to > help with > > detoxing. Guest guest
Has it been discussed (yet) how much of the baking soda should be taken? That would (probably?) be dependent on how much iodine we are taking daily ...? Also, should we just mix the baking soda in water and drink it? Sorry if all of this has already been addressed .. Guest guest
Why did you start taking the iodoral? Fungi (candida) thrive in environments that are acidic, and potassium iodide is an acid preparation..perhaps you are causing harm to too many useful bacteria.See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
I was hoping to be able to cut back on the Thyroid S (8 grains)that I take daily, if I was iodine deficient. Guest guest
I wouldn't quit taking it. I think you need some probiotics. It's a gut imbalance not an iodine issue. If you have an overgrowth of candida then you need to kill it with diet and probiotics. No sugars, grains, etc. Candida also comes with low thyroid / metabolism. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en & rlz=1T4GFRC_enUS209US209 & q=Low+Thyroid+Candid\ a & btnG=Search Be careful what advice you take here. Some is rooted in science and others in opinions. Read and research before deciding. I saw one person post on this and it seems this is how you made your decision. Here is a link so you can read more in Iodine and Candida http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient & ie=UTF-8 & rlz=1T4GFRC_enUS209US20\ 9 & q=Candida+Iodine Re: Candida >I was hoping to be able to cut back on the Thyroid S (8 grains)that I > take daily, if I was iodine deficient. Guest guest
I stopped the Iodoral 3 days ago and almost immediately the Candida is no longer a problem. I read 's article that most hypo patients are not iodine deficient. Guest guest
I wouldn't take 's word as gospel truth. All of the clinicians using Iodine are finding the opposite. What does S base her assertions on? Is she testing hypo patients. No she isn't. She is an advocate not a medical person. Use sources like Dr. Abraham, Dr. Brownstein, Dr Flechas, Dr. Shevin and more that are using it in their practice and testing their patients with loading tests. I suggest that if you question your levels that you also do a loading test to determine your status. You may have multiple issues going on. Guest guest
I read 's article that strongly suggested that thyroid disease is associated with personality type and a problem with speaking out, so it causes a physical problem in women's throats. Uh, not exactly scientific, and pretty condescending to people who have a very serious physical disease. Guest guest
, Have you addressed candida with diet and or herbs. There are several products that really make a difference with candida, grapefruit seed extract, oil of oregano and olive leaf. Oil of oregano is really strong in smell if it is the real things so do not often recommend that one. It will clear the sinuses along with make a room smell for days. Olive leaf really works well. Start with 450 mg a day for 3 days then increase slowly to 2,000 mg a day to the 7th day. Then for 7 days take 2,000 mg a day. If you have a really bad case continue to take 450 mg for 30 days after. Olive leaf works so well the die off can make your sicker for a few days that is why you start at a low mg of 450 and slowly increase. You will need to take activated charcoal and or clay with it as well to clean up the die off thus helping the liver. Both of these need to be taken 2 hours before and or after all food, supplements and or medication as the absorb everything. Do not take proboitics while taking the olive leaf however the minute you stop start the probiotcs however please try and take them on an empty stomach. From: I'm not sure what to do now. Guest guest
I guess you haven't read her latest article then. Oh, in one sentence she says she doesn't want to blame the victim. However, the rest of the entire article was all about how everyone with thyroid disease needs to investigate that theory to see whether it's true. If you have no trouble speaking out, then investigate the other meditative psychiatric practices to find out what mind-body connection is causing your thyroid disease. This is the same tripe being peddled by Oprah's bunch. This is a thyroid expert/advocate??? Guest guest
, I haven't had a problem with Candida in years. The Iodoral brought it on like a " wildfire. Guest guest
, Before the popular anti-fungal drugs like Nystatin became available, Iodine was used to treat candida. Iodine is a strong anti-fungal. You are probably experiencing die-off symptoms. Since I started taking Iodoral two weeks ago, my candida has greatly improved. My tongue is no longer white. -Dave > > > > , > > > > Have you addressed candida with diet and or herbs. > > > > There are several products that really make a difference with > > candida, grapefruit seed extract, oil of oregano and olive leaf. > > > > Oil of oregano is really strong in smell if it is the real things > so > > do not often recommend that one.
