Guest guest
Hi , Im afraid I don't feel qualified to answer your question but felt I wanted to connect because I have a 9 year old daughter which I just started on the program (Im on it too), about 2 weeks ago but have put a little sweet potato and brown rice back in her diet because she was detoxing so badly that last Friday she was crying with all-over back pain. I took her to the nutritionist and he said a kid her age needs a little carb in the diet. Im not really satisfied with his answerbecause I saw her ADHD go away completely on the program and I really want to put Krissy back on Bee's diet fully but Im so darn scared after I saw her almost not being able to walk and she had to miss 3 days of school which is not kosher. I guess after telling you all this, Im wondering how you are faring with your child? I do admit that I put her on really quick and she was taking like 2 tbsp of coconut oil daily so maybe that's the problem... anyway, I'd love to hear how your child is doing and has he/she made the complete transition onto the diet already. Thanks so much Lore New York > > Quick question, we just got an order of Natural Factors, Hi Potency B Complex, 90 Capsules. > I'm wondering how much a child can take? Guest guest
Hi Lore, I hope you don't mind me jumping in but I saw your post and I wanted to mention that 2 Tbsp. of coconut oil is quite a lot if your 9 year old daughter is just starting out on the program. You need to cut *way* back on the coconut oil and start it quite slowly. In the beginning you should start her on 1/2 teaspoon three times a day (and even less if her healing reactions are too strong). I have a nearly 6 year old son who was on Bee's diet from the time he was 3.5 years old until September 2010 (and he'll be back on the program starting on Monday!). He did quite well on the program, especially with his aggressive behaviour. So, cut back on the coconut oil for now and gradually decrease those carbs that you reintroduced. Once she is comfortable again, you can very gradually increase the coconut oil again. It's not a race to get her to her maximum amount of coconut oil. It took me 6 months to get up to the full adult dose. Let me know if I can help you out more! Guest guest
Good morning and thanks so much for your input, it really is nice to hear from someone who has a young child on the diet. I had a feeling it could have been the CO but I wasn't sure. I will gradually reduce the carbs and give her less CO but I think I will have to keep her on her medicine (concerta)until the summer because she would walk around all day saying she was hungry and being that she's in a small special Ed program, they call me constantly and tell me how much she is suffering and hence, distracting other kids in the class with her complaints. Its so hard to make this type of decision because society is so ignorant in believing that kids NEED their sugars... even after seeing the great incidence of diabetes, cancer and other ailments in this country. I feel like a rebel when I talk all this stuff with the school staff and even with my family, and Im pretty sure they think Im out of my darn mind! Its nice to know however that there are others like me out there. You mentioned that your son is going back on the diet... how long was he off successfully and why does he need to restart? Does it mean kids can never go back and eat sweet potatoes, brown rice, carrots etc..? Also last time that you put your son on the program, was he in school and did he have to miss any days? Thank you . Guest guest
Hi Lore, I understand that your daughter will be hungry, but instead of giving her CO, give her butter to eat as well as more protein and veggies to curb her appetite. The CO will cause her a lot of unnecessary discomfort right now. I, too, feel like a rebel and that no one believes me when I tell them the amazing things that have happened to my son (as well as my husband and me) on Bee's diet. And yes, I feel I'm going out of my mind sometimes. My son was off the diet since the end September. I didn't want him off the diet because I believe it is necessary to eat this way for life-long health, but his doctor insisted for two reasons. First, I have been trying to get my son assessed for autism spectrum-like symptoms since we moved here 3 years ago and because he improved so dramatically on Bee's diet, they couldn't make a proper diagnosis. And second, his cholesterol was really high and of course the medical community is scared about that. So, now that he's been off the diet for this amount of time, they are able to assess him and we are now working with the dietician and the doctors who treat kids with epilepsy with a high fat, low carb diet. I would normally not have gone the medical route, but where we live, all schools must provide lunch and two snacks a day for all kids and in order to get a special diet, we need to have a note from a doctor. I've had to jump through all of these hoops just to have the 'right' to feed my son good food. It's completely ridiculous, I know, but that's what we parents do when we love our children, eh? Last time when my son started the diet, he was 3.5 years old. He was in daycare, but home for summer holidays for the first month he was on the diet. He was never sick (flu or vomiting) and never showed any signs of having painful healing reactions. He mainly had positive reactions, like his speech improved, his behaviour improved and his chronic diarrhea stopped. The worst part was that he acted like a drug addict going through sugar withdrawal. I attribute the ease of his transition onto this diet to going slow with the addition of the coconut oil. I can't stress that enough. Group Moderator > > Good morning and thanks so much for your input, it really is nice to hear from someone who has a young child on the diet. Can a 9 year old take a whole capsule? +++Hi , Here's Supplement Doses for Children: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/baby.php * 18 months to 7 years old, 1/3rd of an adult dose * 7 to 12 years old, 1/2 of an adult dose * over 12 years old, the same dose as adults take So, yes it is okay to give him one B Complex, which would be 1/2 of an adult dose. Most children take Nutritional Yeast Flakes instead of B complex. Bee
