Guest guest
Holly, I am lucky enough to have recently found a doctor who doesn't say one word about vaccination, or our choice not to follow the well-child schedule, or the fact that we don't go in when the kids are sick. We go in once a year, the baby hasn't been in yet and she's 11 months. But before this doc, we went through a few of them. There were some who said they would not pressure me to vax, and then did it anyway when we were face to face. Basically, just remember that you are the mom and they can't force you to do anything. I would say more likely than not you will have to sit through a lecture about what the doctor believes. I suggest the " nod and smile " techinique follwed by " no thank you " . You can try to educate if you want, but I personally have decided that it is far too big a drain on my energy to try and educate people who are completely closed to any alternative ideas. If you refuse to vax, they CAN refuse to see you (they lose money when their patients don't vax), but no one has refused us. Stick to your guns and you will do fine. Guest guest
Your exemption letter, imho, should be enough. I know with our old pediatrician here in IL, that's all I did. I gave it to the nurse that was working him up & she put it in his chart. The doc asked, I said the exemption was in their files & he said, ok. I know they aren't all like that, but I would probably say that " you have my exemption, enough said " in IL > I need to know what I should take with me to this appointment. Guest guest
I think its best not to try explain your reasons or anything like that.... simply say something like, if you have any information you'd like me to take home and read I'd be happy to do so, but for now we are not vaccinating. Guest guest
Holly, I agree with the previous answers about not getting into a debate with your doctor. But I am wondering if you know the specific code for your state. What kind of exemption do you have written up? Religious or philosophical? It is VERY important to know exactly what is required. I can help you with this. Do you know other like minded moms that can tell you about this doctor? ~Carla~ Fear of disease, fear of microorganisms, fear of the unknown, is the tool of the clever that keeps the weak in line " ~ Tim O'Shea
Guest guest
We are in Michigan. Turns out he just wants to "follow" my case.He also wants me to up my Lactulose dosage or that I at least remember to take the crap. I got some tests back from him - blood tests from April & the ultrasound I had last month & all's the same as before LFTs are high, liver looks good on ultrasound but my spleen's enlarged & there's a shadow on my gall bladder (only in views in a sitting position) they recommend a follow up in three months, also, the gall bladder walls are thickening - whatever that means. I'll be seeing the cardiologist next Monday & he'll set up a stress test. After that I'll be off to Toronto for the rest of the pretransplant tests. At least I'll be getting a free trip to T O - better than nothing. SuZie Next time I'm coming back as a cat
Guest guest
There's a travel thingy called the Northern Travel Grant - it's not really a grant it's reimbursment - you travel & then bring your receipts to them in the hope they will give you the money back. Since I'm on Disability they'll just give me a plane ticket & housing in Toronto. I think, just have to wait & see. It won't be for a few months anyways. Guest guest
They know about it already but I will remind them, often. All I have to do is tell them when the Gastro sets up the appointments & they'll take it from there. I find that I don't like crowds anymore. I don't know how I'll react to T O but I will adapt. Guest guest
Hi Bee, Since I've been on your program for almost 2 years and haven't seen a period for over 2 years now you recommended me going to my doctor for some testing so I did today. They took blood and are going to run some tests. Testing hormone levels, if my body has went into menopause (even though I'm only 30) and test to see if my brain is signaling to my ovaries (to drop an egg). The other test they want me to do though is taking progestin for 30 days to see if I get my period. If I don't then she wants me to take estrogen and progestin (I believe this is a birth control pill) to see if I then get my period. Now I know taking hormones are really bad but I'm also concerned that you told me to go to the doctor since I haven't had a period in over 2 years and you were concerned about that. I don't know what to do. Should I take the hormones to find out the results and then just let my body detox them? Or do I not do the test and lie to my doctor? Not sure what to do at this point... Thanks for your help with this.
Guest guest
Hi , I noticed that Bee hadn't had a chance to answer you yet. If it was me I wouldn't take the hormones, but I don't know your history or your other symptoms. Do you think your periods stopping is anything to do with your weight? Have you had trouble putting it on? As a fellow old timer who has been on the diet for 2 years, I wonder can I help? Too overcommitted to help Bee as a moderator I still try and help especially the parents and long timers having troubles. Have you been on the full diet for two years or did you take a while to transition? Have you kept up with the changes Bee has been making? Are you on the correct supplements and the right dose of HCL? How much have your other symptoms healed? If you think I can help, don't hesitate to contact me. All the best > > Hi Bee, > Since I've been on your program for almost 2 years and haven't seen a period for over 2 years now you recommended me going to my doctor for some testing so I did today. > > They took blood and are going to run some tests. That's actually good news, so we know you just need to stick with this program since given enough time your body will level out all hormones levels No, do not take any hormones, which will interfere with your body's ability to normalize itself like it should.
