Guest guest
Tina (got the name right this time, sorry) Believe it or not, fresh organic RIPE avocados are wonderful in a smoothie. This winter I stayed with an organic farmer on the Big Island of Hawaii and he cured himself of Hepatitis C (from a former lifestyle) using a RAW JUICING VEGAN diet and plenty of supplements. A true and total cure. Amazing. We would go out in the morning and gather FRESH fruit right off the trees. Most natives try not to eat groundfalls there because of the big bugs and rats that could have contaminated them. (yep, they have rats in paradise....) His daily smoothie contained the following (all from his yard!) Oranges, Grapefruit, Bananas (2 kinds), a big Avocado, Mango, Guava, Ginger, a small Thai Pepper, a bit of Garlic, Coconut milk and other seasonal fruits. The avocado was what gave it body and texture. What a great flavor and what a healing substance. He would have some juice in the morning but seemed to like one of these in the evening or just before bedtime. Don't know why. Side note: Another farmer I stayed with on Maui raised sprouts for a living and I got one of the most powerful GI flushes in my life from ratcheting up my daily intake of WHEAT GRASS JUICE. Holy moly! We were also munching on Sunflower sprouts all day with the occasional Radish sprouts thrown in so this probably affected the cleansing effect. I recommend it if you can get the fresh organic juice, but do be careful with the amounts; in addition to excess cleansing it will most likely jack your blood sugar. It's also better for you if you mix Oatgrass, Wheatgrass and Ryegrass juices.
