Yep, that is us! My first bunny did get run over and died from my wheelchair--it

was awful. I wasn't used to having a pet to worry about and forgot she was out

of her cage. So...when I got the next bunny (who lived 8.5 years!) I was

super-paranoid and constantly asked " where's the rabbit " whenever he was out of

the cage before I would move my wheelchair. Now we have 4.5 year-old and 9

month-old bunnies. I continue to be hyper-vigilant when they're out. As you

mentioned, they seem to have *no fear* of my wheels.

Do you keep it in a cage at all? Whenever I am home alone I never have our

bunnies out, only when someone else is around to do " bunny checks " for me. If I

know I'll be " sitting still " for awhile (watching TV, on the computer, etc) then

I ask for them to be let out for some hop time. I also keep a hand-held mirror

in my chair which can help me look behind me or locate the buns before moving.

Is this your first house rabbit? I'm excited for you!! ~a

Subject: Rabbit

I have ended up with a liberated rabbit. Long story.

I recall someone here saying they had a couple of rabbits.

How do you avoid running a rabbit over with your wheelchair ?

My rabbit seems very fond of both my wheels and other people feet.

Trouble is I just can't see him when he is close and he is soooo fast.

I often get stuck not daring to move unless I can definitely see he is

distant from me.

Cheers

Oh no, how traumatic to run over your first rabbit!!!

Least we have both learnt from this tragedy.

At the moment he is sadly only has run of the house an hour or two a day as

my toy poodle hates the rabbit and wants to bite him! So rabbit is only out

for as long as we can tolerate the dogs loud protesting about being shut up.

I have a tiny room about 5x5 which rabbit is in most of the time. Looking at

ways of rabbit being more involved in the household otherwise feel I will

have to get him another rabbit for company. Dont really want another animal

though as I feel I have enough already with dog, rabbit and three hens!!

Yes he is my first rabbit so any tips welcome. Wondering if he is deaf as he

doesn't seem to respond to dog barking or hand clapping. What is your

favourite thing about living with rabbits?

Thanks

Hi ina,

Yes, you can eat rabbit. It's quite a lean meat, so make sure to add lots of

fat to it! Enjoy!
