Guest guest
Hi andra. I'm pretty sure that the treatment of Vitamin C by IV is now illegal in the U.S. I think that this just recently hit the news. You can still enquire about it and hopefully You can find someone. Hugs & Healing, Carol From: nocalc@... Date: Mon, 10 Jan 2011 19:47:17 +0000 Subject: [ ] shingles/ vitamin C infusion treatment question Hi all, I haven't been around much lately, and I hope everyone is doing well. I currently seem to be experiencing a shingles outbreak. I got very un-well immediately after Christmas. I did research at the time and the symptoms as well as their progression fit the standard medical description of shingles. I rested a lot, ate mostly broth, and took lots of vitamin C (by mouth). I also had an epsom salt bath (I wasn't up for bathing the first few days, as I hardly made it out of bed!). After a whole week, I was feeling much better. However, today (one week later), pain is returning along a number of nerve pathways in the head and a few wee blisters could be forming. Mostly the pain and pressure are around my eye and ear on the right side, though occasionally also under my arm and on my leg (also right side). The eye pain seems to terminate in what could be a growing red shingles blister on my face. The eye is also somewhat sore. This is new. I am concerned because of possible complications with vision, and have been trying to get information on orthomolecular physicians in my area, to see whether I should try the vitamin C IV. I have done an internet search, but no one is in my area of northern New Jersey; there are a few in New York City, or in Pennsylvania or Connecticut. I want to call my own doctor (whom I haven't seen in years, btw!) to find out if he would be willing to provide the infusion if he can get the recipe from an orthomolecular physician, and my question is the following: Has anyone else here has had this conversation with their doctor (I believe might have done so)? If so, what did you say? How did the conversation progress? Any other advice in dealing with this situation would also be gratefully appreciated. Thanks a bunch! andra

I don't think you should do anything other than helping your body detoxify because shingles is like any other skin issues, which is toxins coming out. You can take higher doses of vitamin C as I recommend, starting with 4,000 mg the first day, and 1000 mg every hour for about a week. If you get loose stools during that time, just cut back a little on the amount taken every hour. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Thanks! I did recently read articles about the FDA trying to make it illegal... I found a DR in NYC who also offers it, but it's quite expensive and unclear whether my insurance would reimburse. In the meantime I have been eating Vitamin C tablets like candy and it's definitely helping! Guest guest
Thanks Bee, I appreciate your taking the time to answer my question (and many others) with everything happening in your life. What you describe is what I've been doing, and it seems to be helping a lot. The (few) lesions I had are disappearing, and the " shingles headache " fades when I take my Vit C. I wrote my original message as I was concerned about complications to the eyes (later also ears), since I was having the most pain and pressure along those nerves, and lesions were appearing on my face. Those are almost 100% gone now (this is only my second full day of megadosing, out of 2.5), but the headache is persisting. I had over 34g of C on Tuesday and about 30g yesterday. I am near the end of my retracing, so I really wonder what was going on with me when I was between 1.5-2.5 years old - maybe vaccinations, I suppose! This latest experience has been quite uncomfortable and scary - almost every one of my healing crises starts with a bang! Please lower your doses of vitamin C slowly. In other words, do not go off of high doses suddenly since it is easier on your body. Guest guest
Thanks Bee, will do. In any event, I'm not on much of a taper now... still taking 2g every hour! I was down to 1g every hour yesterday evening, but that could have been premature. Looking forward to the weekend, and some R & R... Be well! Hugs, andra > +++Hi andra, > > You are so welcome!
