Guest guest
Betty I was wondering about taking these products. Do you have to remain taking these after you start for permanent life or do you have any other info on this? Guest guest
The Rogaine says for life. I don't think the NuHair would have to be for life, just till you see good return of hair. Blessings! Guest guest
On the hair loss question. Dana in Dr. R. office told me to take my ZINC - I take ZMA combination and my hair loss stop almost immediately. I actually loss less hair than I used to before the surgery. This worked well for Dana too. Eileen 1/3/02 Re: hair loss > > > Betty I was wondering about taking these products. Guest guest
Well, Kirsten, you are right on time! Most of us start at 4 months. I have read numerous posts about different supplements and shampoos. I have not read very many saying that anything actually worked. Most of us just have to weather through it. Mine got so bad that I was considering getting a wig and then it stopped and grew back in. You can try fish oil capsules, zinc, biotin, extra protein and Nioxin shampoo. You need to be careful of the zinc. You need to take about 200 mg a day, but if you start out with that amount it usually makes you very ill. You need to start out small and build up. Good luck and please let us know if anything works. Margaret in St. Louis MGB 12/13/00 > Ok. It's finally happening to me. My hair has started falling out. Guest guest
I believe it stands for zinc, magnesium and aspartate - a formula that is supposed to help us re-build healthy cells. We are supposed to take 2 at bedtime for the rest of our lives. I have taken it consistently, but didn't notice any difference in my hair loss. I lost hair until the 10th month no matter what I took. Guest guest
, My hair dresser said to absolutely not color or perm your hair during this stage. You usually have some fallout along with these and you don't need any extra if you're like us and have thin hair. It does come back and I am now OK to become a blonde girl again. in SC
Guest guest
Holly, Zink is supposed to help. I started losing my hair during my 5th month and it was real scary. The same thing happened. I was taking a shower and the water wouldn't go down the drain because of all the hair. I started wearing a bandana around the house so I would shed everywhere. Now I am on my 10th month. I'm not losing much weight as this point and my hair quit falling out. I do take zink but I couldn't tell you if it really helped. I took it from the start and still lost hair. I now have all these little nubs coming in. I think everyone loses hair, not to worry. Kathy H. 3/25/02 RR 238/158 Hello everyone, I guess it is my turn to ask the question about hair loss. I have read the posts earlier but when it is not happening to you it does not seem to be important. Anyway, I am 4 1/2 months out and have lost 61 pounds so far. My hair is coming out in huge clumps when I wash it and then falling out all over the place during the day. I am starting to get scared. Can anyone tell me the name of the medicine or vitamins they are taking to stop hair loss. I am taking my multi-vitamins and calicum supplement daily. Please help. Guest guest
Holly, try using Head and Shoulders shampoo. Is is made up of zinc. It has really made a difference in my hair! I buy the volumizing type. Good luck and take the zma! Also, the GNC carries a supplement called Hair, Skin, & Nails Formula. I take that as well. It can't hurt! Guest guest
What's the deal with zma? How is it different from other Zinc? I bought Zinc at Walmart but it didn't say anything about zma. 12/16/02 298/
Guest guest
Hi Holly- Oh yes, we know all about that hair loss <G>. It usually begins around the 4th month and continues until around the 10th month. I have read many things that are supposed to help - but I have never read of anything stopping it. Some people say to up your protein, some say to take zinc (start with a small dose and work up or it will make you very sick), some say to use Nioxin shampoo, some say to use Head & Shoulders (it has zinc in it), some say to take fish oil capsules, MSM or biotin. You can try it all - and let us know if you think any of it worked. I lost a LOT of hair and was just about to invest in a wig when it stopped at 10 months. It grew back in better than before. It seems to just be something that we have to endure for a few months and I can tell you that it was definitely worth it. Guest guest
Hi Holly, My sister who is hairdresser put me on Nioxin products the week before my surgery and I have continued them ever since and have had little or no hair loss. Nioxin is not just shampoo but is in fact a two part treatment comprised of a shampoo and a leave in scalp treatment. The combination of the two has worked very well for me and I am at my 7 month anniversary today. Good luck!
