Guest guest
Hi Ali and Members, I just wanted to share a couple of things with you since my digestion is still not very good after being 17 months on Bee's diet: I still can't have broccoli, onions, garlic, leeks, cinnamon, and chicken among other things because they create a lot of reactions. So I just eat them occasionally. I also get reactions with eggs, butter, ghee, fish, and other foods, but I keep eating them since they are nutrient-dense and not plant foods. Maybe people with a poor digestion such as yours would fare better on the all meat and fat diet? Or at least you could eliminate the plant foods that bother you. Sometimes I also suspect that I am not absorbing everything I eat since there are days when I binge and binge as if I didn't get all my nutrients. I share your concerns about not healing the way I should, but I know that I am still healing in spite of digestive issues since I have had retracing episodes, my period has come back etc...I hope it is the same for you. Best wishes, Helene --- En date de : Ven 31.12.10, Alison <alibamford@...> a écrit : De: Alison <alibamford@...> Objet: [ ] Re: Help- diet not working À: Date: Vendredi 31 décembre 2010, 4h12  Hi, I too feel as though the diet is not working as well as it should - my digestion is awful at the moment and has got progressively worse - to the extent that I now have gastroparesis - food sitting in my stomach for hours (last night I ate at around 6pm and my stomach didn't empty until 3am this morning - and all I had was pureed chicken and broccoli with the veg water!!! It is keeping me awake - most nights I am not asleep until at least 2am and I am exhausted. You may have something with the butter. That has been a constant right through the 2 years of the SCD followed by the last 9 months I have been on Bee's Diet. I have tried not having butter in the past for maybe a week or so but maybe I was not off it long enough to see any real difference. I have some ghee in the fridge, and I am also thinking of getting some goats' butter to use instead, as the s-beta 1 protein in that apparently does not trigger reactions like the s-alpha 1 protein in cows milk. I am not absorbing the nutrition as I feel I should be and the butter could be driving continuous damage in my gut. It is very common that those with Celiac Disease also have issues with casein and the proteins in soy and corn, as well as gluten. Until I can get my digestion working properly, I can't hope to be healing anything like I should be at this stage. Ali. > > Hi Corrine, we too were on scd for a couple of years and then moved on to Gaps inbetween. We found a tremendous difference in our healing coming here. The biggest as Bee says is the fats, were you really on those sorts of ratios on scd? > One thing I could suggest which has really worked for us has been replacing butter for ghee, I think some people with really compromised guts can not process any lactose. We all went into a big healing crissis when we came off it. Same also went for the lemon, which again we weren't tolerating. I only suggest these extreme measures for people in trouble long term with the diet, and actually there are very few of them. > Its difficult to estimate how poorly you are with chronic illness and therefore how far you have to go. My daughter was very very obviously poorly, but everything that she has had trouble with I do too. We spend most of our energy in the kitchen on fats and preparing the softest and most digestible meats. We care less and less about the veg and infact have recently experimented with not having any - and feel fabulous! Do you eat plenty of eggs and fish? Are you taking your hcl in the right dose? > All the best > > . > > >
