Guest guest
Pumpkin seed are reported to be HB for men with prostate gland problems. A handful a day keeps the gland from enlarging. I'll try the mix with carob chips next time around. > > > This diet has ruined me! Guest guest
Best is to cook some chicken turkey meat and eat those instead of snacks. Other options are nuts/seeds with dried fruit. love http://www.foodforyourblood.com Snacks I'm just getting started, and I'm wondering what kinds of food do you O's use for snacks instead of the carbohydrate/corn/wheat/sugar/popcorn snacks that I'm used to, and which are served everywhere I go. I want to start eliminating wheat and corn from my diet, but, realistically, I know I'm going to want a snack when everyone else is having one. Thanks for any suggestions! Guest guest
Hi Sherri, I'm glad to see questions like yours for us new comers - here in New Zealand we do not seem to have the range of wonderful products that are available overseas, but for snack I do tend to turn to fruit - beneficial is limited !!!. I have discovered a wonderful Soyaccino - (soya coffee flavour drink) and enjoy that in the afternoon instead of the coffee. Also rice and rye crackers are OK for us o types. Look forward to learning more. Guest guest
Hi Sue Does the Soyaccino taste like coffee ? where do you get it ? . > Re: Re: Snacks > > > Hi Sherri, > I'm glad to see questions like yours for us new comers - here in > New Zealand we do not seem to have the range of wonderful > products that are available overseas, but for snack I do tend to > turn to fruit - beneficial is limited !!!. Guest guest
Hi , Hey its pretty good, more of an ice coffee - when cold !!!, can be heated, purchased in the supermarket with other soya milks. Australia and New Zealand suppliers are Sanitarium Health Food Company. Certainly hits the spot - the herbal teas are growing on me, but I did enjoy a good cappuccino. Guest guest
Sherri, Welcome to the group, Sherri. Feel free to ask any questions, and we'll all try to give you the answers you need. What says is true healthwise. However, you can always look for sweet potato chips, Wheatless Wonders, spelt pretzels, rice crackers, etc. at your health food store. Watch out for corn oil, corn starch, maltodextrin, and even in your nuts be sure to check for corn oil. :-) Snacks > I'm just getting started, and I'm wondering what kinds of food do you O's use for snacks instead of the carbohydrate/corn/wheat/sugar/popcorn snacks that I'm used to, and which are served everywhere I go. >
Guest guest
HI Sherri, Welcome!! I make a trail mix out of walnuts, pumpkin seed, raisins, dried unsweetened pineapple, dried cherries, and sometimes toss in some Rice Chex for that crunchy effect. I don't do much grain, so the Rice Chex is a now and then kinda thing. I LOVE the taste of raw pumpkin seed, so I don't roast any of this. It is all organic and raw! Best to you, and Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii CB
Guest guest
Ya'll (Southern for you all) have been great! Thanks for all the great ideas. If anyone has others, I'd still like to hear them. I really appreciate the welcome and the ideas. I hope to finish ER4YT and begin in earnest in the next week or so. Have a great week! Sherri RE: Snacks HI Sherri, Welcome!! Guest guest
Hi Sherri, Eat Right gives you the basics and the ideas of this eating plan but to put it into REAL action, get the Live Right edition and you will be " in business " . Guest guest
Oops! I meant to say Live Right. Sigh! I also have Cook Right, if I can find it under the mountain of mess left over from the school year (I'm a teacher). Thanks! Guest guest
No, you don't do snacks between the six but you could make meals 2, 4, and 6 more like snacks. I tend to do this. A sample meal plan which by the way contains more engineered food than would be recommended but it's the only way I can function. 1. 5 scrambled eggwhites with 1-2 yolks and 2/3 cup cooked five minute oatmeal with Equal and cinnamon added. 2. cottage cheese and fruit (snack) 3. tuna piled high on a slice of ww bread and half a protein bar for " dessert " 4. during school session this is postworkoutmeal, a Myoplex shake or a carb/protein bar--or apple and protein bar.(snack) 5. chicken breast, broccoli steamed, salad of spring greens with raspberry vinaigrette, and a sweet potato or corn or maybe another piece of ww bread with a little garlic powder(only one of those choices) 6. cottage cheese and fruit or 2% milk with a protein bar or another Myoplex(snack). So you can use meals as snacks but the amount of food percentages should be about the same in all of them. Hope this helps and I hope to see you post your progress Stasia
Guest guest
There are no snacks, so to speak. Some people structure their meals so that meals 1 3 and 5 are " main meals " and meals 2, 4 and 6 are " snacks " , but really the meals are all the same value. I don't think about " snacks " , I think of these all being equal meals. ly, if I'm having my meals correctly I don't hardly have TIME for a snack! If I get to where I feel like I need to chew something I have a dill pickle. Example from today: (More supplements than usual, one of those kinds of days) Meal 1 Protein Shake and 1/2 banana Meal 2 Strive Bar and 1/2 banana Meal 3 Strive Bar and apple (see, too many meal sub stuff, but it was a difficult day for me) Meal 4 Cottage Cheese and apple Meal 5 Salmon, Broccolli, watermelon Meal 6 Chicken, greenbeans, grapes I've not had meal 5 or 6 yet, but that is what I plan on eating. I could add more veggies to the day, but I'm in summer classes, so my time is tight and this is the best I could do for today. Alys

Guest guest
I was told years back that when your stomach growls and it is in the lower part of the stomach it is the previous meal digesting, and that when you feel and hear it in the upper portion of the stomach it is hunger. Hope this helps. Texas > > > I have a general question, I have wondered this ever since I started, but > have been REALLY tryin to be " good " and not cheating and whatever... Guest guest
I can't get to the BFL website right now. It says the traffic is too much for the server. Weird... Anyway, every recipe I've ever seen, a BFL " snack " is a protein and carb balanced complete meal. It counts as one of your six. If you're hungry an hour after you eat, you probably just need to make your portions bigger. snacks I have a general question, I have wondered this ever since I started, but have been REALLY tryin to be " good " and not cheating and whatever... Guest guest
A good alternative to a " snack " ior increasing the portion is a cup of coffee. I don;t mean a double-mocha frappucino with whipped cream (although that ia great on a free day!) - but a regular cup 'o joe. Caffeine acts as an appetite suppressant. I remembered this fact this morning, when I got a coffee on my way in to work at 9 am (I was pretty hungry) but did not yet have breakfast. About 20 minutes and half a cup of joe later, i was not hungry. I practically had to force myself to have a met-rx at 10:30 this morning. > I can't get to the BFL website right now. Guest guest
Thanks! I kinda figured that, but just wanted to make sure. Yesterday I upped my veggie portions and that helped out alot. After an hour and a half I started to get hungry again. Sometimes I swear I feel like such a pig wanting to eat all the time, still trying to get rid of that no eating philosophy. But I know you have to eat, and BELIEVE me I am! But I figure as long as I am increasing my veggie portions and not doing something else I don't think I am hindering anything! ~kimmah snacks I have a general question, I have wondered this ever since I started, but have been REALLY tryin to be " good " and not cheating and whatever...
