Guest guest
Hi! First of all, we are sorry to hear about Bee's mother and will certainly be praying for her. I have been on the diet/supplements for over a year. It has helped me tremendously, and I feel so much better than I did two years ago. My son, however, has been struggling with eczema since he was about 1 1/2. He is now 3 1/2. I am figuring that I possibly had a Candida overgrowth when I was pregnant with him and now he has a Candida problem - evidenced through his dry, rashy, itchy skin. I just started him on the diet and supplements this week. We put coconut oil on his skin and now it looks alot worse. I understand that he could be experiencing a healing reaction on his skin? I have not yet managed to have him eat the coconut oil aside from cooking a little bit in it. So, he would be having this reaction because of the coconut oil I have put on him, right? From what I've read on the website, coconut oil is the only moisturizer recommended, correct? Are olive oil and peanut oil bad? What about essential oils like myrrh and geranium that are supposed to help with eczema? Are they okay to use? His skin really needs moisturized because he cries about how itchy he is (right now all over his entire body) but I don't know if he or my husband or I can bear to keep making it worse with the coconut oil. Thanks so much! Suzanne
Guest guest
Hi Suzanne, It is fine to use olive oil or even butter on his skin, but don't use peanut oil. Bee generally does not recommend the use of essential oils. His skin 'appears' to be getting worse because of healing reactions and it seems that that is the way his body has chosen to detoxify, but it is actually a good thing since he is getting rid of toxins. There may not be very much that you can do to stop this and you wouldn't want to anyway since this is how he will heal. It is possible that he will have the same results from using olive oil or butter. These reactions will gradually improve as he progresses, so hang in there. If I were you, I wouldn't bathe him very often in order to allow the natural oils of his skin to build up. You can wash his bottom by holding him over a sink and wash his hands and face whenever necessary, but keep the rest of his body out of the water. Also, when you do give him a bath (once a week or even longer), put epsom salt in the water and use minimal soap just to clean his bottom and any dirty area. Don't give him the soap to play with. Use a good soap that isn't drying to his skin. Here are some treatments that Bee recommends for itching skin: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/treat14.php I hope that helps.
