Guest guest
Can someone write me and tell me how their experience was when they first got pregnant. My husband and I are not in no hurry by all means but I just want some information about the signs. Are they different than when you have a normal stomach? I had a baby 11yrs ago so I don't even remember the signs from back than. If you could be so kind to write me and tell me your experience from having a MGB baby I would really appreciate it. Again, I just want to know if it is worth taking the risk. Thanks, a in Wisconsin 03-07-01 299/190/?
Guest guest
Have you tried to get pg yet? Just wondering. We have been trying to have a baby for 5 years with no luck. We have spent loadds of $$$ on various fertility treatments but no one really has an answer as to why. I have a feeling it has to do with Samters but there is no research done on this and Dr. don't really know. So, for your sake I hope that infertility does not have to do with Samters. Guest guest
Dear Jim I would like to keep in touch and learn what you learn. I am a midwife who is about to get a Qxci. I feel it is appropriate to have pregnant moms on the machine up to 38 weeks. Have Mother hold her intention for pregnancy and birth while you do the initial 3 min. handshake testing. What baby and mother need most will come as top priority. This and many balancing and harmonixing alignments like the spinal one, aura cleansing, organ stregthening... can be done safely. I personally would not work on viruses(except for herpes) vaccinations and mercury fillings- let these stay dormant. Guest guest
, I turned 34 when I had my MGB Baby -- same day actually. I waited the year that Dr. Rutledge recommends before attempting to get pregnant. We have many MGB Mommies out there, many over 30 -- we use to have a Mommies group, its been rather quiet lately, there are even a few that had twins after the MGB! It was wonderful to see you last month! Kathy Kathy Goodman klg@... Director CLOS - Florida Office 704-871-0031 ext. 103 Cell 704-682-1723 Fax 704-871-0148 pregnancy Hello to all! My sister is 30 and thinking about having this surgery after watching the results that I had and my mother is beginning to have. Her main concern is that she doesn't know whether to have children or this surgery first. So if there are any women 30 and over who had this surgery and had children afterwards with no problems could you please write back and tell me of your experience! Thank you very much! Jolene, in the 1980's people with non-hardware fusions were told NOT to have babies, my mother told me the doctor told her that, and I didn't believe her, and had my son in 1982 (and two miscarriages, one at 4 mos., one at 6 mos.) Then I found out that others had been told this, and my friend with the Milwaukee brace adopted for this reason. What are people told these days? (I had my tubes tied in 82 when my son was born Cesarean, since I had to go to bed for 6 mos, and didn't want to go through it again) I think that having three pregnancies, plus time in bed, damaged the fusions. Guest guest
Hi Everyone I just had to share some good news! (my daughter with the mole pregnancy) had her first blood test after her DNC on Tuesday (yesterday). The nurse called her this morning and her count was 50....50! That is just incredible! Remember now her count was almost 180,000! Also, it was a complete mole and her lungs were clear and it had not spread! And, it had not turned to cancer! Thanks for all your prayers. God is sooooooooooooooooo good! Jane Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell? Check out new cars at Autos.
Guest guest
Hi I had my Harrington Rod surgery in 1980 when i was 13 (fused T1 to L3). When i was 26 i feel pregnant with my daughter. I was told that there was a bigger chance of having to have a c section because of my back, and i might not be able to carry to term - might need bed rest! I carried her full term and had a natural delivery! She was a posterior baby and i ended up needing a instrument birth. she was born as 3.77kg, so was not a small baby. I was 28 when i fell pregnant with my son - i was induced at 38 weeks as my kidneys were taking strain - he was also a completely natural birth - no intruments etc. With both kids i could not have an epidural, and the only pain relief i could use was gas. Yes, it was hellishly sore - but giving birth is supposed to be!! I never had any issues with my back in any way whatsoever! So if you want to have kids - GO FOR IT!!! You will be well aware of what your body can do. I am now 41 and am only now suffering with my back - i have flatback syndrome - otherwise i have never had an issue before. Hang in there - and don't give up the right to have kids just because of your back! Jackie (South Africa) From: nerilka365 <nerilka365@...>Subject: Re: Pregnancy Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 3:49 AM I took my husband with me to my original surgeon when we found out Ihad flatback syndrome and we asked about children and he said the samething as your doctor. He also encouraged us to have children with thecaveat that they would have to be watched for scoliosis, especiallyany girl. The first pregnancy I was under a lot of stress at work andended up with preeclampsia that retarded the growth of my son in thewomb. I ended up on bed rest in the hospital for three weeks and hewas born 9 weeks early at only about 2.5 lbs. The first few yearswere difficult but in the end the professionals were right and he isdefinitely within normal parameters in every way. I was 33 years old.My daughter is almost five years younger so I was 38 when I had her.I had preeclampsia again but did bed rest at home, as well as anymother of a five year old can. This time the preeclampsia affected meand not the baby. 90 year old ladies on the street could walk fasterthan I could shuffle along. She ended up being 3 weeks early at 5 lbsbecause my blood pressure was skyrocketing. Both were "emergency"c-sections. Both times the doctors insisted on trying to do anepidural. Both times they failed miserably because my surgeon hadwrapped bone from my hip all around the Harrington rod so that theycould not get a needle in. (I had more pain from their failedattempts during my daughter's birth than I did from that c-section.) There are advantages to having a c-section, namely you don't tear, orendure an episiotomy, and you retain more muscle tone down there. After the epidural didn't pan out, they put me under generalanesthesia. My husband was bummed because he didn't get to see eitherbirth, but we have two wonderful children. We would have had a thirdif it hadn't taken us so long to get the first two. Yes, both kidshave scoliosis. They diagnosed my daughter when she was only about 3years old, from a chest x-ray for pneumonia. They have to do acertain exercise ten times every day and I put them in kung fu to getbetter balance and coordination. (I know that swimming is best, butwith all of the pneumonia she's had I don't want to do swimming in thewinter.) Oh, and my obgyn would have let me have a natural birtheither time if not for the preeclampsia both times forcing thedecision for a c-section. So there was another plus - I never wentinto labor so I didn't have any labor pains. The c-section wasnothing compared to the Harrington rod surgery. I was up and walkingabout within 24 hours. (Because of the preeclampsia, I had to be onan IV with magnesium for 24 hours after birth, or I probably wouldhave been up and around even sooner.) Maybe I feel bad that I had tostop carrying my kids three years earlier than all of the othermothers, but my kids don't love me any less for that. The things weregret most in life are not the things we did (like having kids) butthe things we didn't do (like not having kids sooner.)>> I had the metal rod surgery with spinal fusion in 1996. Guest guest
I had my harrington rod/fusion for thoracolumbar scoliosis when I was 13 in 1978. I had the first of 3 children at the age of 22. All were normal, full term, vaginal births with no epidural. No one ever said that pregnancy and delivery would be any different for me than any other woman. I personally believe that carrying children probably hastens flatback though I have no proof. I also believe that I would have developed it eventually anyway. I think having children made me cope with my pain better than if I didn't have anyone else depending on me. It definitely has affected my children...they knew that their mom was a little bit limited in mobility and had days of considerable pain and that made them considerate and independent kids. And when flatback finally did get the better of me, it was my children (grown and nearly grown) who would gather around my bed to watch tv and share a meal or lay down next to me to talk or read or do homework. It was one of my children that would lend an arm and strong back when I needed help from the bed or a ride to the city for another surgical consult. I am grateful that my children were nearly grown when I finally got to the point of needing surgery to function. I don't know how I would have coped with revision surgery and the long recovery if I'd had dependent children...but other people do. There are many who post here who have managed to do it. Having children, or not, is your decision and choice. No matter what you decide, you will manage as best you can and probably do a marvelous job....because that's what we do:) We carry on. Take care, > > I had the metal rod surgery with spinal fusion in 1996. I am now 28 > years old and seriously thinking of having children. Guest guest
I had harrington rods and fusion from T-2 down to L-3 and then had 2 children with natural child birth. My labors were easier and faster than most of my friends. Regarding the epidural....I have had 2 injections into my spinal cord for CT mylograms with dye. The first time I was at a teaching university and the resident/student doctor that was doing it had a very difficult time getting the needle into my spinal cord through all of the bone spurs and scar tissue. It took him 3 separate times and was very painful for me. When my doctor wanted me to have another one a year later, I insisted on having a very experienced anethesiologist.....no more rookies. The doctor that performed the second one was very skilled and she got through my spine on the first try. It was over before I knew it! If you want an epidural during your labor, I would suggest that you explain your unique spine problems to your doctor ahead of time and make sure that you get someone with lots of practice. Guest guest
Thanks for the info on the dye used for mylograms causing health problems. My CT scans both occurred within the last 3 years, so hopefully I didn't have any of the old style oil based poison. This does bring up a subject I worry about at times. Do any of you worry about the effects of narcotics or other pain relievers on your body....especially your liver? I've had a blood test to check my liver functions and nothing appears to be wrong.....but I do worry about the long term effects of taking things like vicodin, oxycodone, and muscle relaxers like skelaxin or flexeril.
