Guest guest
Zoloft has been around for a long time. That's why doctors are comfortable with it...they know a lot about it. According to this it's a Class C drug: http://depression.emedtv.com/zoloft/zoloft-and-pregnancy.html And this: http://www.drugs.com/pregnancy/sertraline.html To be honest, if it were me, I wouldn't be taking it during pregancy. It all depends on how bad one's depression is or whatever it is that's being treated. If someone commits suicide because they weren't on something what's been gained? Guest guest
HI there, I agree with Barb, If you can get away without taking any antidepressant during pregnancy I would stop because I think they do not really know all the possible effects it may have. BUT of course some may have no choice and you may not. I believe there are docs that actually specialize in pregnancy and psychotropics or these type meds. the reason I say that is my sister is schizophrenic and so meds are very important so far as keeping her stable. she is one of the few lucky ones with NO symptoms when on the correct medications. None- the -less she tried to go without at the start of her pregnancy because the one she was on was not the safest thing for the baby . well that did not work out and she had symptoms return . MY mother found her a doc that specialized in those meds and pregnancy specifically. He put her on a med not as good as the one she normally is on but it was safe for the baby and temporary until delivery. The great part for her is the new med had less side effects then the old it turned out and once the baby came they were able to just up the dose and she is doing better then had she not gotten pregnant and seen this other doc ( and she only had to see the doc once or twice if I recall & then her usual doc took over RXing ...so it did not cost arms and legs if I got the story straight on amt of visits to the specialist ( because she DID have to go outside her insurance to see this doctor as she has kiaser for her reg coverage but this is not a speciality the offered .. SO she did have to pay cash but only a few times and well worth it for her and her baby to be safe. the doctor was at UCLA. so I would try a UC or university hospital for someone who is really knowledgeable in this because I honestly do not think the average OB or even psychiatrist is fully equipt with this knowledge.. Please think about checking into a one time visit with someone who specializes and if not in the specifics of these meds with pregnancy then maybe a high risk pregnancy doc since they deal with people on pain medication who are expecting and things of that sort. Guest guest
Bre...Yep, I'm holding him as I type.. Pregnancy went well.. It was the weight gain that was a problem-heehee. I NORMALLY NEVER POST ON HERE BUT I DO READ THEM.. I didn't gain weight until the very end of the pregnancy(7+ months). I lost weight first and then gain VERY SLOWLY.. I gained a total of 15 pounds-ALL OF IT BABY.. he weighed 9.3 lbs-and very healthy. I had a natural water birth at home with our 5 children there.. It was AMAZING.. Niko will be 1 year old on the 5th August.. I hope this helps...HugsDonna Bean15 Via MarcianaAmerican Canyon, Ca94503707.853.5132On Jul 27, 2010, at 12:06 PM, Bre <jbriannewilliams@...> wrote: Has anyone out there, that has had the Sleeve surgery, found out they were pregnant before the initial 18 months passed and if so how did it go for you? Guest guest
WOW! What a great story thanks, for sharing. We are not pregnant, but I will be having surgery for endometriosis (my 5th surgery) this December and that will put me at 15 months post op from the sleeve. After my surgery in December I have to stop taking my BC and use an alternative method until I am 18 months out. I am just trying to get a feel for how things will go if I happen to get pregnant before the 18 months is up. So did you have to have IV vitamins etc? Thanks so much for responding. Has anyone out there, that has had the Sleeve surgery, found out they were pregnant before the initial 18 months passed and if so how did it go for you? Guest guest
That I don't know.. I had to go to a Dr here in California. I had a midwife for my pregnancies (all 6 kids). And because I couldn't keep anything down at first and was losing weight(pre-pregnancy weight 124). They started me on injectables..I guess you could ask your OB/Gyn when the time comes, if you even need injectables.Best of luck. :)Donna Bean15 Via MarcianaAmerican Canyon, Ca94503707.853.5132On Jul 28, 2010, at 5:08 PM, Jana Willits <janawillits@...> wrote: So, do we buy them in Mexico when we are there? -Jana From: hotcalirunnermacDate: Wed, 28 Jul 2010 14:56:14 -0700Subject: Re: Pregnancy They have them through the Dr's office. Guest guest
I got pregnant with twins right around 11 months after I had sleeve surgery. I miscarried, but not due to any complication associated with the sleeve surgery. I had a very large fibroid tumor that was competing with the babies for blood supply. My suggestion is to request that your OB run a few extra labs to evaluate your nutritional status. The labs my OB ran were Albumin/Preabumin and folic acid. They can give your doc a pretty good indication of your nutritional status. Mine were within normal limits at a year post op, so it's very possible to maintain a healthy pregnancy earlier than 18 months post op. Best of luck to you! > > Has anyone out there, that has had the Sleeve surgery, found out they were pregnant before the initial 18 months passed and if so how did it go for you? >
Guest guest
Hi Bre... I am pregnant as we speak. I had my surgery in March of this year and currently I am 10 wks along. I had lost a total of 60lbs before I found out I was pregnant and I have lost about 13 lbs since then. My OB is sending me to a High-risk Dr for a consult just to see what all risks he thinks I am in for. So far we (baby and I) are doing well. I just had my 3rd ultrasound yesterday and the baby is developing right on schedule. That is great news considering that means that it is not smaller than it should be because of my limited calorie intake. Hope this helps! This is explained in Candida Treatments for Babies & Children, which you can follow to treat your son: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/baby.php Also search for past messages about getting pregnant on our group since this has been discussed many times before. All the best, Bee
