Also is this your 9th pregnancy? How long after your last pregnancy did you get pregnant this time? Once you reply I'll respond. Bee
Guest guest
I'm 44, 9th pregnancy, 4 years between these last two. I've been fully on the program since July 2010, 99% since May 2010, and a healthy, real-food low-carb/high fat since March 2009. Thanks > > > > 19 weeks (out of 40) tomorrow - almost halfway. > > > > I'm having some of the " usual " pregnancy complaints that folks have, but I'm actually having them more than I've ever had before, and earlier than ever before. > > > > leg cramps - so far have only had one actual " charlie horse " /cramp (those that wake me and force me to jump out of bed to stretch the calf and release the cramp) but most of the night I can feel the threat of a cramp, and twitchiness (restless leg syndrome, I think). Guest guest
Honestly, even though I am 32, your pregnancy sounds very similar to what mine was. I also had several years in between - 7 to be exact. My mom's last pregnancy was at 42 and it was rougher for her - and a friend of mine had her most recent pregnancy at 35 and said it was rougher than even at 32. My guess is that it's age and having four years in between. And, if it is candida stuff - count it as progress! I am happy for you that you didn't have much nausea though! I didn't with my third either and it was a HUGE blessing! > > > > > > 19 weeks (out of 40) tomorrow - almost halfway. Price studied in the 1930s. > > > > > > leg cramps - so far have only had one actual " charlie horse " /cramp (those that wake me and force me to jump out of bed to stretch the calf and release the cramp) but most of the night I can feel the threat of a cramp, and twitchiness (restless leg syndrome, I think). So ensure you are taking the correct amount and kind of calcium and magnesium citrate and that you are not too much of anything that is diuretic, i.e. meaning they make the body lose water along with important minerals. However toxins can also cause muscle tightness, aches, pains, stiffness, etc. Many foods or teas are diuretic including green vegetables, caffeine (chocolate, coffee, etc.), herbs, fruits, and tea. Also ensure you are not having any kind of " green " drinks or products like chlorophyll, chlorella, etc. which are also diuretic. If you take baking soda to settle your stomach, do not to take too much, since it is high in sodium which is also diuretic, so it can throw off mineral balances. People who like sardines get more calcium since there is 300 mg in every can, which can also throw off the cal/mag ratio, in which case you would need to lower your calcium on days when you eat a can. Having 3 mugs of Mineral-Rich Bone Broth in a day provides plenty of calcium and magnesium, in which case you should not take cal/mag supplements on days you consume that much. Minerals can only be utilized in the body if you get the correct combination of good fats recommended on this program, including cod liver oil (contains omega 3, and vitamins A & D), vitamin E, saturated fats like unrefined coconut oil, butter, lard, and other animals fats. Of course all of the nutrients work together, i.e. protein, vitamins, minerals, fats, etc. >>>varicose veins - never had any in pregnancies 1-7, only a tiny little spot in #8, that didn't show up until the third trimester, but already, even by about 13 weeks, I've got several large clusters of varicose veins on my right calf. +++Do you have varicose veins or spider veins since there is a big difference between them. Varicose veins are usually green in color, and they are large, worm-like, and very bulgy. Spider veins are very small, thin, veins of red or blue colors. They are like fine-tipped pen scribbles on the skin, that are unattractive but very harmless, which occur more frequently on the legs, but can also appear on cheeks, nose, ankles, etc. >>> Insomnia - again, have had this in pregnancy #8, a little in those before (it's a common pregnancy ailment) but am really struggling this time. Not that I'm not sleeping at all, but after my first round of sleep (about 11:30/12 - 4am) my sleep is so light and restless that I almost feel like I shouldn't bother. A big part of this is the twitchy sensation in my legs, as I think I am fearful of a leg cramp. I never get back into a deep restful sleep. <snip> +++Insomnia may be a common pregnancy ailment, but healthy women don't have it. I think your insomnia may be related to mineral issues as I wrote above. The best in health, Bee

It is the health of the mother that matters most, since women can have normal pregnancies as long as their bodies produce eggs IF they are healthy. This is discussed by Dr. Weston A. Price in his book Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. Age related issues are in Dr. Mendlesohn's book Confessions of a Medical Heretic. He writes how the medical industry has been lowering safe ages of women to get pregnant from 45 years old, down to 30-32 years old. Of all the things you mentioned, this is the only one that could be an issue. > >>>varicose veins - never had any in pregnancies 1-7, only a tiny little spot in #8, that didn't show up until the third trimester, but already, even by about 13 weeks, I've got several large clusters of varicose veins on my right calf. > > +++Do you have varicose veins or spider veins since there is a big difference between them. What a bunch of whooey. lol. It might be a little more difficult because your body is older in general, but putting restrictions on people that way? My friend who had a baby at 35? She had to have extra testing and extra ultrasounds because of her " advanced maternal age " . Ha!! Though I can say, she and many people I know could greatly benefit from the candida - is that something that is recommended for people who are pregnant or nursing? I didn't start last year because I was nursing my son. Even now I am still breastfeeding him, but he is 13 months and gets most of his nourishment from other food.
