Guest guest
Hi, I got my coconut oil from Wilderness Family Naturals at: http://www.wildernessfamilynaturals.com/ They also have CNO from India, which I’m going to try next time I order. Enjoy! ;-) Judith Alta -----Original Message----- HI, I've been using VCO for several years. I normally take a half of bagel toasted and put several TBLS on for breakfast. I cook with it and love it. I also give it to my two greyhounds each night for dinner. Question: Do you all use Tropical Traditions solely? They have been on BO for a long time and I am presently out for the first time in several years. Warmly, Bobbye Stegen

But I think most companies that sell coconut oil sell it in smaller jars as well as large multigallon buckets. Jeanmarie
Guest guest
> Hope you use the organic, not hydrogenated. My favorite brand of > coconut is the Omega, but sometimes have to by Spectrum Naturals. I tried either the Omega or the Spectrum from the local health food store once, but found that the stuff went brown within weeks. So I found " Virgin Oil de Coco Creme " online, tried it, and found that this has a shelf life of years: http://www.portalmarket.com/coconutvoil.html I've dabbled in using coconut oil off and on over the years -- it makes me a bit hyper if I have 2 tablespoons a day, but is okay at 1. Guest guest
Yeah, I've had the Spectrum with the brown in the bottom, it's just not filtered enough. Not had trouble with the Omega. The hyper is from it revving up your thyroid. Personally I can use all the revving I can get, but that's a bit more oil intake than I stomach daily. If the inositol ends up keeping good for you in a few weeks, I might just give it a try too. ~Snoshoe > I tried either the Omega or the Spectrum from the local health > food store once, but found that the stuff went brown within weeks. > So I found " Virgin Oil de Coco Creme " online, tried it, and > found that this has a shelf life of years: > > http://www.portalmarket.com/coconutvoil.html > > I've dabbled in using coconut oil off and on over the years -- > it makes me a bit hyper if I have 2 tablespoons a day, but > is okay at 1. > > Marc

Yes, my nutritionist/EAV tester suggested that I could take my daily dose of coconut oil by rubbing it onto my skin, if I didn't like the taste of it. And by the way, the skin lotion that I've been using to eliminate the burning face symptoms is SHIKAI Borage Dry Skin Therapy http://www.shikai.com/products/borage.htm This is carried at all the local health food stores in my area. Guest guest
You might want to examine the rest of your diet. It is real easy to the wrong foods in this culture. Adding a good food on top of bad foods won't help much. Alobar On 12/23/06, jun1488@... <jun1488@...> wrote: > > In a message dated 12/22/2006 10:08:14 P.M. Guest guest
I agree Alobar, I am on a low carb diet. For fats, not only do I use coconut oil, I also use butter, olive oil, peanut oil liberally. I eat mostly meat, fish and fowl protein, many low carb/glycemic vegetables. I usually add large amounts of coconut oil to my coffee in the morning and before bedtime. this helps to stabilize my insulin and increase the level of glucagon in my blood, as I understand it. If you have a difficult time stabilizing your insulin and blood glucose, this can cause your body to store fats. Getting rid of excess sugar, which includes processed flour, rice etc. aids in insulin stability. > > > > In a message dated 12/22/2006 10:08:14 P.M. Guest guest
Sure, this is a typical day for me: Breakfast: 1-2 eggs 2 slices bacon 1/2 cup of strawberries Lunch: salad of romain ( healthier than iceburg ), red bell peppers, radished, chicken breast dinner; 2 pieces of cod asparagus or: B-flax cereal with pecans and strawberries Lunch 4 oz. steak collard greens D- chicken, cauliflower salad ( cauliflower, onions, eggs etc-this is made like potatoe salad, ranch dressing ) > > > In a message dated 12/23/2006 10:16:07 A.M. Guest guest
My veggies and eggs are usually cooked in butter, olive oil or coconut oil. I prefer to put coconut oil in my coffee or evening tea so none is wasted.I also use coconut milk. Coconut oil I think is my best health investment but it can be pricey . For this reason, I try not to waste it. I get shrimp stir fry at Trader Joes and I use coconut oil for that. Most of the oil is absorbed by the vegetables. That reminds me, I have some stir-fried shrim that I can have for lunch today. Also for breakfast I might have have low carb yogurt with blueberries and pecans. Vegetables that I eat consist of asparagus, cooked greens (turnip/mustard/collard or swiss chard and spinach ), jicama, lettuce, radishes, brocolli, cauliflower, cabbage, snow peas, bell peppers of all colors although reds are the highest in nutrients. fruit: strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cantalope, avocado, tomatoes, zuchini and other summer-type squashes. This is just a sample of the vegetables and fruit that I eat. I always eat 3 meals a day including breakfast. I prefer sparkling water over regular water. I enjoy fish, fowl, beef and game. I include cheeses, half and half, cream, butter and the other fats. I avoid tranfats. -- In Coconut Oil , " Titus " <fluteteacher@...> wrote: > > Sure, this is a typical day for me: > > Breakfast: > 1-2 eggs > 2 slices bacon > 1/2 cup of strawberries > > Lunch: > > salad of romain ( healthier than iceburg ), red bell peppers, > radished, chicken breast > > dinner; > > 2 pieces of cod > asparagus > > or: > > B-flax cereal with pecans and strawberries > > Lunch 4 oz. steak > collard greens > > D- chicken, cauliflower salad ( cauliflower, onions, eggs etc-this is > made like potatoe salad, ranch dressing ) > > > > > > > > > > > > > In a message dated 12/23/2006 10:16:07 A.M. Guest guest
Asx part of a healthy diet where all un-healthy fats have been removed, I lost about 100 pounds over 3 years taking in large amounts of coconut oil. If one adds coconut oil to a diet of unhealthy fats, one propbably won't lose weight. Alobar On 1/15/07, <slyan2007@...> wrote: > > > > > I keep reading that coconut helps you loose weight. Guest guest
Coconut oil has properties that rev up the metabolism. It is high in saturated fats and undocumented theories will say that saturated fats are bad for you. This is not true, obviously. Fats have been guilty by asssociation and not by fact.I have lost 8 lbs since Thanksgiving by adding the recommended dose of 3 1/2 tablespoons a day. Removing unhealthy carbs will increase your success on a diet when a normal amount of fats are consumed. The unhealthy fats, trans-fats, should be excluded from the diet. > > > > > > I keep reading that coconut helps you loose weight. But I have > > always > > > been told coconut is fattening...... Guest guest
Back when I had more free cash, I was taking over an ounce a day. When my weight stabilized around 180 pounds, I cut back to about a tablespoon a day for financial reasons. If I had the cash, I'd take more. Not everyone has these results, but I've heard from quite a few who have had similar experience, and it has certainly worked for me. zoe Monday, January 15, 2007, 8:40:16 AM, you wrote: > I keep reading that coconut helps you loose weight.
