Guest guest
, I would immediately get them into some soft orthotics to increase cushion during heel strike, start using some analgesic cream such as traumeel or the CT stuff Joe Medilin is raving about, adjust foot knee pelvis with a non force technique, and apply cold laser ASAP. If you go to Activator.com, you can read a peer reviewed case report where a similar injury resolved with Activator adjustment and topical use of traumeel. The author on that study was Brad Polkinghorn. The interesting thing about this case report is he had pre and post MRI showing healing of the knee cartilage. Guest guest
Hello Edith, Back in March I had an MRI that revealed a 'rippled' meniscus. Donna sent me the following email and I tried all three products AND alot of walking. I don't know if one was more effective than the others as I took all three at the same time but I am pain free and had no need for the prescribed surgery. Good luck, GypsyRose Hi Gypsy Rose, These are some things that have worked for other people. Serrapeptase, as we recently discussed, is profoundly anti inflammatory and also eliminates scar tissue. It is wonderful for joint issues. Immucell can be helpful if there is damage to the joint. It is NON hydrolyzed collagen, glucosamine and chondrointan sulfate and hyaluronic acid. These reduce/eliminate pain and also will rebuild the joint over time. I have had some people have some pretty amazing results with this. It stopped the plantar faciitis pain I had immediately. CMO cetyl myristoleate is a waxy concoction derived from beef or sheep tallow, or chicken fat or butter. What it does: Well when we have inflammation in joints it is often helper T cells gone awry. Instead of serving the community they have become gangs pillaging. They cease to distinquish between healthy joint cells and unhealthy joint cells and begin to attack them all. CMO turns this off. They leave the gangs and go back to being productive citizens. Smile. 13 grams over a month is what is recommended for a situation like yours. Once the CMO has restored the helper T cells to normal function and they cease to tear down the area, the Immucell ingredients can be used by the body to repair the area. This takes 6 months to a year, though relief is generally noticed immediately. The serrapeptase is anti-inflammatory and removes any scar tissue that has occurred in the mean time. Just as an example a lady I know who is 62 has breast implants. She has had them since the seventies. One of the down sides to breast implants is that you get alot of scar tissue around them and they get really hard to the touch and don't feel natural. This was what she experienced. So she started taking serrapeptase, not for that but, for the cardiovascular cleansing ability of it. She called me yesterday in amazement because she has only been on serrapeptase for about 5 or 6 days and already her breasts are feeling soft and normal. She is just wide eyed with amazement. It seems like it is cleaning out her arteries as quickly because she says the heart symptoms she was having are gone already. So, back to your knee. You might consider CMO, serrapeptase and Immucell. Also lymphatic massage of the area can eliminate alot of fluid and promote healing. I'll post some more info seperately. Guest guest
MRI's don't always show what's wrong. The definitive answer would come from an arthroscope. NOT by their doctor. Defendants' doctors are paid to say nothing's wrong with you. I found out recently that contrast MRI's give better results than regular MRI's. And then there's the functional MRI, which takes pictures while you're moving. I'm sure that's really expensive & the company would refuse to pay for it. But would it cost more than an arthroscope? You also might have torn a meniscus. MRI's don't always show tears. My doc said that in a contrast MRI, the dye gets down into the tears so they really show up. Good luck. Ann Knee Injury Hello everyone, I am very new to this board but I need some information. I was injured in November 2006, where I landed directly on my left knee. It caused a huge hematoma. I was diagnosed with prepatellar bursitis as a result. I went threw a month of PT, 2 additional MRI, all same diagnosis. From March until about September I just lived with the discomfot and pain. I have a permanent " bruise " as well as occassional swelling and intermittent pain. I had another MRI done last week after doing another round of PT. The doctor initially recommended a bursectomy but said that surgery is a hard one to heal from, so we opted out of that. After the MRI results came back I was diagnosed with Chondromalacia grade 3 and Medial plica syndrome. Nothing mentioned of the prepatellar bursitis. My doctor has recommended surgery to " clean " it all up and this will eleviate the pain and swelling. Ok so now my question. Is all that connected to the accident? My doctor says it may have been there before and the injury has made it symptomatic. But wouldn't that have shown up on the other 2 MRI's previous to this last one? THe reason I am asking is that I am in litigation from this injury and I have to give a deposition this week as well as the defendants doctor's exam. I know that I did not have this pain prior to this injury. It has to be relevant. Thanks for anyone help that replies.
Guest guest
Thanks Ann for replying. I didn't have a contrast MRI, just your basic lie there and be still for 45 minutes MRI. I am expecting them to down play this. But I won't allow that. They don't know what and how much pain I have. And I have always been a pretty active person, gardening, and just enjoying my life and this has totally changed everything. So I am really pissed that this happened. I know they will say this is my fault I expect that. However they have no idea how stubborn I can be Thanks, I will keep you posted. Guest guest
I filed a workers comp suit just before I retired because my boss knew I had chondromalacia & gave me job duties that required me to crawl under hundreds of desks (she didn't like me). I kept telling her that this was making my knees worse & asked for a student to help me but she said no students were available for that. I talked with the Workers Comp guy, who said he agreed that it was my supe's fault, even though their doctor didn't. The problem was that, in trying to squeeze more money out of them, my lawyer had added that the pain in my fingers was their fault. It wasn't, it was just normal aging. So the State (my employer) wouldn't settle as long as the fingers were in the suit, and my lawyer wouldn't take them out. The Workers Comp guy who agreed with me changed jobs & I felt it was probably hopeless w/ the new one. Finally I moved 750 miles away & dropped it. I even called them before I left to tell them I was dropping it. Months later, one of his student lawyers called me up, acting like law students do, and told me that I HAD to come back so the workers comp doc could see me again (this would be the 3rd time, with no exams by my doc). I told her that if they'd been so concerned about me when I still lived there, that woulda been nice, but I was not going to drive 1600 miles round trip just so the WC doc could say " no " again. She was really rude. So you might have to keep on your lawyer to do the job they're supposed to do for you. Good luck. Guest guest
From my experience, doctors really don't know how to classify or fully deal with, chondro, especially when there is no clear-cut defect, or with an injury like has. Too often there is extraordinary pain with no clear-cut source, and other times there is grade IV chondromalacia with very little or no pain. I believe with the new research I posted they are just beginning to really address the suffering so many chondro(?) patients deal with. To really understand the swelling and pain chondro patients deal with takes more than one MRI, it takes multiple MRIs to really understand the changes going on in the synovial tissues. If there is a clear-cut defect they can try and correct that defect, but even that is no guarantee of pain relief. Chondro diagnosis and surgery (like most surgery) is as much an art as a science. Every case is completely unique, and is not necessarily quite like any other case out there. Any surgeon who tries to categorize you, I would suggest running for the door. Guest guest
That was exactly what happened with me. According to the research, the doctors cannot even begin to understand your pain unless you get at least 3 MRI's over an extended time period. Until you find a solution, I would suggest doing like I am doing. Use RICE as it works best for your situation---(rest, ice, compression, elevation). Exercise, but don't overdo it-----medication that works for you----if medication works for you. After four relatively minor surgeries, I am to the point rest and compression are getting me by. I live a relatively normal life now, but am careful to not overdo it. It was to the point four years ago I was virtually bedridden. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
If you look under the pictures for Meg's knee, you'll see some good pics of a nasty case of reactive synovitis. I have a fairly large grade IV on my patella, and my OS says all the crap grating and knocking loose in my knee caused the inflammation and swelling in the synovium. Which is probably the root of most of my pain. He seems to be a good OS, and knows what he's doing. Meg. Guest guest
I keep reading this and trying to correlate it to my knee problems. My synovitis, according to my OS, is caused by my kneecap being mis-aligned and grating away my cartilage, so it's the grating and the foreign bodies that are causing the synovitis. If this study is right, the definitive treatment for me is not so much the ACI, but the TTT, which should stop the grating and thus stop the synovitis? And as such, even if the ACI didn't take or I wasn't able to get the insurance company to cover it, the TTT alone should fix my pain problem? Am I reading this right? Mind you, I am still having the ACI, but I like having a clear picture of what's at the root of all of my problems. Guest guest
Jen, The surgeries I had were basically all releases. ly, I'm not sure how much they helped, if at all. I think they helped, but I'm not sure. With this condition there is seldom one, and one simple, answer. I guess I made the mistake of looking for that one simple answer, and still have not found it. I have come to the conclusion I can be at peace just being able to manage my condition and have come to live a relatively normal life. Four years ago, I didn't think that would ever be possible. At that point depression can be a real concern. Fortunately at that time I had family, friends, and a group like this to get me through. For that, I am grateful. Guest guest
With this condition, only YOU can make the final determination whether YOU are making the right choice of treatments and doctor for YOUR condition. I wouldn't dare to try and tell you different, the only thing I can do is to relate my experiences and give you moral support. Sometimes that is the most important anyway. Guest guest
You have to understand though. Men can be so childish and selfish when they are in pain. Women are much better at handling pain IMO . Mike MT Knee Injury Hello everyone, I am very new to this board but I need some information.
