Thanks for the warning on Himalayan salt...

Actually, the timing of your warning, Bee and Ed, was good for me, in that I was

getting ready to order some more Himalayan salt.

Instead, I have re-ordered the French sea salt (Sel Marin de Guerande) carried

by Village Market, San Francisco. Their price is $7.99 for a 1-kg bag (2.2 lb).

They charge a flat rate of $10.70 for shipping. They are in the process of

redoing their website, so this salt does not at present show up on their website

(but I had ordered it from them before). The above flat rate for shipping will

cover up to 6 bags of salt in the same box.

For now, the way to order from them is to call them up [(415) 989-9200] and give

them all information over the phone. This may change as they updated their

website.

When I first tried the so-called Himalayan salt, I kind of liked the taste a

little more than the French sea salt. But one of the things I noticed was that

not all the crystals of Himi salt would even dissolve, and it was like biting

down on rocks! The French sea salt DOES all dissolve in drinks, etc.

I have looked at the Selina Naturally website, and I will try their Celtic sea

salt too at some point. I also notice that they offer the type of salt grinder

which can handle the moist sea salt, so I want to get that too eventually.

Looks like the average price of the gray sea salt is running about $4.00 per

pound, give or take a little.
